Recently I saw a toot or a tweet that it would be a real shame if #journalists all go to Post while #scientists all come here to #Mastodon, and I think about that a lot. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of scientists were interviewed on podcasts and in articles because they appeared approachable on Twitter. I myself was approached more than once by a journalist because of something I tweeted, and then I got to do some #SciComm. Wherever we all land, I hope this problem gets figured out.
Out of curiosity, does anyone know what the scientist community on Post is like?
@lisa_b_davidson I think that Post is not the most viable long term because it depends on micropayments per article.
If say, you had a healthy distrust of a media outlet because of repeated misrepresentations of a group you belonged to or say they'd bungled political reporting with obvious consequences you wouldn't go there. Why bother? I can be misinformed for free rather than paying for it.
And without creatives? What's the pro on a news site over this?
