Rewiring midi to use this little guy with the Roland Super JX 10 and the Behringer Deepmind 12, both 12 voice synths. Amazing how much a mess wiring can become over a few years. I spent an hour pulling midi cables. #music #midi #arpeggiator #sequencer #roland #hardware #synth #behringer #akai #electronicmusic #studio
While there has been a lot of focus on what #AI technologies are doing to text and the graphic arts, less attention has been paid (in the media) to what it's doing to #music and sound.
#Akai has released a tool kit to convert audio samples into "stems," which you can think of as the individual components of the sample. Imagine pulling out just the baseline or vocals from a sample. That's what this does.
$10 and I can deconstruct your music back to its basic elements.
@experimentalmusic @electronicmusic Other things I've used:
Weird recordings of preachers prattling on about prophecy and the End Times, from both cassette and vinyl records
A years-old version of freeware audio editor #Audacity
Lots of #weed
An #iPad
Several of the excellent apps #Hainbach has worked on, including #Fluss and #Dials
Some other stuff I'm forgetting because it's late.
Oh, and I'll answer any questions about how I did it!
I wanna know if Akai's first synthesizer from 1984 can lead a pack of notoriously HUGE instruments.
And there's only one way to find out...

Let's push the Akai AX80 to its outer limits...

The AX80 is not an easy instrument to love, but has a STRONG personality. To find it, you'll have to push it to the outer limits of what the engine was built to do.
I need help from the #musicproducing bubble.
I'm using an old PC running #LinuxMint ( #xfce ) for #producing and #recording.
Main software is #LMMS and #Audacity.
I'd like to use a #MIDIkeyboard, best with some #Pads (like an #Akai #MPC) for playing #Samples for beats. But I'd like to use it in Linux.
Everytime I'm searching for information online it takes 2-4 minutes till: My head explode.
The instructions for me, always seems kind of like this:
"Connecting the JACK-ALSA-Pod-Cable-Hypendum with the controller. Then Set your DAW-software via Wine up and in the last step just persuade Bill Gates, that he's sporting a fluffy moustache, wich is strokeable." ARRGH.
Please, I'm not a huge Linux-brain. Nor intend I to become one. I just wanna make music! And this without use unfree software.
Is there – at best – a plug-and-play solution for my MIDI-Keyboard wish?
Thank you in advance!

Version 0.1.7 is ready!
(A hardware MIDI mixer mapper for #PipeWire.)
Fixed some corner cases and handled some unknown states.
Handled most Clippy findings, especially unnecessary .clone() and .to_owned().
Moved from json_rs to serde_json and fixed the resulting bugs.
Apparently #Moog has been acquired by #InMusic (owner of #Alesis, #Akai, #Numark) and is no longer employee-owned.

Hopefully this new chapter for the iconic Moog name remains true and faithful to the spirit of the brand and continues to innovate with great #music-making #tools and #instruments going forward.

Version 0.1.6 is ready!
(A hardware MIDI mixer mapper for #PipeWire.)
More a bugfix release. Some of the annoying bugs related to links and ports are fixed now. Those were hard to catch, so they won't be the last.
Now a node without any links will be connected to the first available sink, if you try to switch its sinks.
"pw-midimix" version 0.1.4 is ready.
A hardware MIDI mixer mapper for #PipeWire.
CAUTION: The argument '-n' (--not-title) changed to '-t' (--title-off)!
LEDs can be disabled completely '-l' (--leds-off).
LEDs flash on startup as a greeter. Can be disabled with '-g' (--greeter-off).
Lots of refinements, cleanup and reorganizing of code.
Clean program flow and exit strategy.
