#FreeBSD provides the Ports Collection, a convenient way to install applications. Some ports allow users to configure options before building and installing. By default, this configuration is done through an interactive menu in the terminal.

To improve readability and #Accessibility especially for users with low vision or color blindness, it's important to offer simple and customizable color options. These features have recently been implemented and documented in the preview version of the FreeBSD Accessibility Handbook:

Despite my vision being quite good, I lost out on being able to enjoy a meme because of a lack of alt-text. I could clearly see everything, but the logo in the meme was unfamiliar to me. Had alt-text been added to the picture, there is a good chance I could have found my answer there and enjoyed the meme like everyone else.

I hope you’re doing well! I’m reaching out to invite blind musicians, producers, and artists to join an **accessibility feedback group** for Sessionwire — a platform I’ve been using and really enjoying for a couple of years now.

**What is Sessionwire?**
Sessionwire is a remote music collaboration platform that allows musicians, producers, and audio professionals to work together in real time. It offers studio-quality audio, high-definition video, and seamless integration with popular DAWs, letting users collaborate on projects as if they were in the same room.

**Why am I reaching out?**
One of the developers at Sessionwire has asked me to bring together a group of blind users to help improve the platform’s accessibility. They already know which areas need work and are eager to collaborate with us to make Sessionwire better for everyone.

**Interested in participating?**

Disability rights are under attack in 17 states!

There’s a lawsuit trying to get rid of Section 504, the law that protects disabled people in schools, workplaces, and public spaces. If they succeed, it means:

Schools wouldn’t have to provide accommodations (no extra test time for ADHD, no wheelchair access, no diabetes care in class).
Workplaces wouldn’t have to adjust for disabilities (no remote work, no flexible scheduling, no accessibility requirements).
Public spaces could ignore accessibility needs (buildings, buses, and services wouldn’t have to be usable for disabled people).

These 17 states are trying to gut 504 protections:
Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia.

If you live in one of these states, contact your state reps & governor! If this lawsuit succeeds, other states could follow, or it could reach the Supreme Court and hurt everyone.

Someone plays music in the background during a meeting. They ask if it's bothering people. Neurotypical folks on the call quickly speak up and say it's fine.

The autistic person on the call (me):

1. has extreme difficulty participating in or even following the meeting due to the inability to separate foreground from background noise

2. experiences distress from sensory overload

3. spends the whole meeting stressing over how to bring it up in a side channel without taking the wrong tone and offending the person due to social communication difficulties

4. questions whether it should even be brought up, or if they're just being "too sensitive" due to a lifetime of conditioning to treat their own needs as invalid just because they're aren't "typical"

Meanwhile, no one on the call even realizes something is wrong or that the autistic person just got screwed over, completely by accident.
