when #alpine update libs like icu in edge, why don't they keep the old versions of packages in the repo until everything is built? i'm pretty sure apk can handle a binary repo with multiple versions of a package so you wouldn't break world locally when upgrading

Last day of an Alpine Course today and the guys are making the most of a poor visibility day in the Sierra Nevada mountains by practicing their new skills on an ascent of a buttress near the Refugio Poqueira.

I kind of wish there was a version of Alpine that was libc based - just for desktop NVIDIA support really.

After the last update, the Signal "desktop app" is requiring us to launch the mobile app - however, many of us do not have the Android or any other "mobile" version of the Signal app any more.

We are a large (by our standards) group of #Linux phone users, and your "desktop" app is our "mobile" app : )

Our previous phones on which #SignalApp was initially activated was an Android or Apple device and we have since then completely migrated to #Linuxphones. Some of us may have registered Signal on #signalcli, Flare, #Molly, Signal Android in #WayDroid, etc.

It's funny how we will sometimes pass by a location a dozen times and not give it a second thought until the right light or conditions present.

While snowshoeing last week in the #Vancouver #Mountains I came to a spot freshly covered in snow, that I've never seen without its usual trail. I would never have thought to take a photo here had it not been for the fresh snowfall covering all indication that a path laid here.

My friend sent me this today from an amazing snowshoe camping trip we took in 2016.

MECFS has altered my life in such a massive way that I'm sometimes at a loss for words. I would have easily hiked 80-100km in a weekend in spite of some heavy fibromyalgia symptoms back then. Now I'm happy when i can make it around the block.

That being said, I'm not the only one. I have another friend in this photo with a degenerative disorder, and I was worried my hiking buddies would disappear when i got sick and came out as trans. But they are still here and I know how rare that is.

I miss the alpine, I miss the plants, I miss the peace and the beautiful reset it gave my audhd each time, i miss the bonding with my friends, but this photo reminds me that you have to love each moment to its fullest because you never know what's right around the corner and I'm so glad I did.

Jack Doohan seems like a really good dude. I hope Alpine gives him a good chance.

It's stunning up in the Sierra Nevada mountains right now. Windchill is severe but it didn't stop these guys enjoying their third day of an Alpine Introduction Course.

A short note on trying Alpine as a daily driver with root-on-ZFS, though not commenting on ZFS specifically (yet). My biggest fear was musl compatibility and so far it hasn't been a problem.
