Nostalgia is a hell of a drug, but Jesus I am so far from ready for this current rehabilitation of nu metal and butt rock in the public consciousness.

ICYMI: This week I did something a bit different and put out some music, the first I've written/recorded/mixed/produced since high school band times (20+ years ago). Everything on there is me except for the vocal track, due to not being able to sing reasons (although, it's based on my guide track).
Have a listen and if you like it tell all your friends!

If you don't like it that's fine just don't tell anyone OR tell people you don't like that you liked it, up to you.
I shared an early version of this one on here, this is how it turned out:
The more I listen to this one the more proud I am of it. Definite favorite out of them all :-)

PJ Harvey, Turnstile, Natalie Merchant, Spoon, Gina Birch and more feature in this week’s curated collection of punk rock, alt rock and indie music news and writing.
Funny how I only yesterday learned from our drummer about this band called Wolf Alice, and shortly after saw someone here mention that they have a new album coming out this year. Anyway, I'm #NowPlaying their 2015 album My Love Is Cool and I like it a lot.
A Perfect Circle – Mer de Noms (2000, US)
Our next spotlight is on number 590 on The List, submitted by Canine. In 3 weeks, this beautiful debut album from the Tool-/NIN-offshoot (or, "supergroup", depending on your definition) will be a quarter of a century old. If you haven't heard it yet, it's the perfect time to give this one a spin.

I don't really know what the fuck Disarm by The Smashing Pumpkins is about but I put the full weight of my soul into singing along to it.

I know why the Brain DJ has picked this obscure track, I just don't know how the Brain DJ found it under cobwebs and red herrings –
Julian Cope, "Sunspots" (1984)
And probably one of the weirdest LP covers, bordering on "heta uma" ("bad but good") …
The Waeve, Scowl, The Ting Tings, Melvins, Fontaines DC. and more appear in the latest Fire Red Sky playlist

Only my favorite Kims in the universe!
In the 90s, Breeders played the Off Ramp Cafe (now El Corazon) in Seattle, and I asked Kim Deal how she got that super warm guitar sound on songs like "Cannonball", etc.
She taught me how to run an acoustic guitar through a Marshall stack, and I used this technique in my own music, linked here.
She was so kind and great.
Listen here and please do comment.

From album five, The Serfville Monad Talk with Fate, a song about a flood, Levee Seven.
The rain will stop; people will come
So-called leaders and those famous-fors
They come to pity, they come to be gone
‘Cause water hazards wreck golf scores
Levee six is gonna be rebuilt
And there’s loans for all the folks of Campton
All we had is now downstream
So seek you me in the mud that was Levee Seven

The miracle we’ve been hoping for
No longer homeless
But living in an RV
https://youtu.be/mMbmw22R9t4?si=xzF1g2aqxqTVMeU4
I’m sorry it’s an hour long. But it features lots of moving into the RV, backstory, cats, my music, my partner’s music, and autistic and trans joy!
I think it’s awfully fitting that we found a RAINBOW RV within our price range, and it’s big enough to be comfortable with our two cats!
We couldn’t be more grateful. But we are hoping that we can continue to find friends who will listen to our music in support, or buy art from me

To all my fellow lgbtqia+ spoonies, I hope you’ll hit the reblog to help me reach more nice people
Here’s some recent art I’ve done..

We have a new album!! Friction
It's an experiment created in a soundtrack style, with each of the 15 tracks based on the same chord progression and reimagined in different styles.
