1st came across butterfly weed (Asclepias tuberosa) along the trail. Was mesmerized by that neon orange & it was one of the 1st native wildflowers I started in my garden. Started it from seed & after 3 yrs it's turned into a nice bush
@bethroots Wow I figured by now they would have at least hired someone. We had a lot of rain last night there will be flooding, but we really needed it. Good luck on Halloween.
I found this red tape emoji and had to go with it.

On 21 March 1933 Adolf Hitler was officially sworn in as chancellor of Germany. The same day he pardoned 8K Nazis, who had committed violent acts, starting with the failed Hitler coup on 8 November 1923.

My first lanceleaf coreopsis flower of the year. I planted/continue to plant plains coreopsis in my gardens & added the lanceleaf last fall/spring. Brings some nice sunshine to the garden
*flops* I am mainly done with my must-dos for the day. Work is done bar a few invoices that just filtered out, and I got an Etsy order to the postbox. So yes, two orders this month -- it's a start. Like, between Etsy and my self-hosted, I've had 12 sales this year. I figured I'd mention that just to make clear how little love I get, ha ha. No pressure on anyone reading this, but like. There you go.
(and why I should get over my reticence and big myself up more, but *ANYWAYS* that is a Whole Entire Mood ><)
Today's to-do list involves remaking the bracelet I shipped out today, and making disability pride stuff. I genuinely don't know why my brain didn't immediately go MAKE THIS NOW, but yeah. Keep an eye out for that. I've got in mind the dice pair (bracelet/necklace), and if I can render it to my satisfaction, cross-stitch stuff too. I'm unsure I can do it to the accuracy I like since the colours are intentionally undersaturated, but we'll see. We'll see.
Right. Onward, etc.

Fun! So the tech bros are already whining about this. Add reminder when about to post without alt text in web UI (#33760 and #33784 by Gargron)
Cry harder. My sympathy is at zero.

Weather not been great for mothing recently. Took a punt last night after the heavy rain and whilst not numerically or diversity significant, I did attract a very handsome EYED HAWK MOTH. He wouldn't readily show me eyes on the underwing, until he was flapping for take-off (hence a bit of blur in photo 2)
Learning from a poll
A while ago, I was berated by someone on Mastodon, that I didn't take vision impaired people seriously, as I used altbot/AI to help me with my alt texts... A friend told me that this was very "ableist", and I had heard people use that term, but I was unfamiliar with it until I looked it up. Another friend, who is deaf and blind, told me that she encountered this behavior a lot by other blind people she met with. But it made me wonder a bit more about alt texts. Then, I mentioned being sad that some people share wonderful images but then don't include alt texts. And I don't boost toots without alts, as I know several of my "pocket friends" rely on screen readers and I don't want them to feel left out. But then I got curious, and I wondered if it was really only vision impaired people that used the alt texts. And that's when my phone exploded!https://cynnisblog.wordpress.com/2025/06/04/learning-from-a-poll/
Google’s brilliant chatbot can’t make up its so-called mind. The first image was posted by someone else* earlier. The subsequent images are the AI summary that appeared on my screen (without me requesting it) when I input the same text into Google’s search bar. It’s hilarious that its two conclusions are diametrically opposed to each other, yet both are wildly illogical.
* I didn’t boost that person’s post, because the image didn’t include #AltText, and, ironically, the user instead agreed to let an AltText bot use an LLM to generate garbage AltText.
Stink bug on what appears to be a false sunflower (Heliopsis helianthoides) though many of our native yellow Asteraceae family flowers look very similar.
@kevinrothrock Podvig recalled Ukraine's incursion into Russia's Kursk region last year - another bold operation that surprised the world. "It certainly influenced the trajectory of subsequent developments to some degree," he said, "but in the end, if you ask whether that operation led to any
strategic result, I think the answer would probably be no." #ALT4you #alttext
