CW WilkieThere's so little editing talk in <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/AmEditing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#AmEditing</a>, I'm unpinning the hashtag and not following it anymore. No talking shop, no blades sharpening against each other, no questions and learning and professional growth. It's just people promoting their books, and fair play to them, but me, me, I want more.I came here in the dismantlement of Twitter, and I tried to train my fellow editors in the mysteries of Mastodon. We had a thriving, bustling editing community (or so it seems in the rear-view mirror through these rose-tinted lenses), and we were hoping to re-create it elsewhere. I boosted for Mastodon for online security and protection against another Faulknerian idiot man-child turning it into the fabled Nazi bar.Most people went to Bluesky because it looked like Twitter. Easier to learn. Unfortunately, the editing community did not fully transfer and thrive, so there just is no editing community for me anymore. (There were some on Facebook, but often it was just a matter of time before some troglodyte tried to insist that "proper English was our last bastion against the mud-races." And that's a quote.)Stay gold, Ponyboy.

They spent the rest of the night talking about rope-making and village life. The next night, Chotaikytsai pulled out a little child's loom that was the only loom saved from the fire. Kyawtchais gave eir yarn, and the short-one showed them how to thread the warp and send the shuttle through to build the weft. The silent-one watched in fascination, and Kyawtchais thought it a pity the city had no room for another weaving family. ---- About 3000 words edited today. Spinning was not idle work, but a full day at the walls used more and different muscles than Kyawtchais was used to. That, too, was like creating a family.
