Cy the Cyborg 🏳️‍⚧️♿️<p>Kev is one of 6 main characters in the wheelchair basketball comic I'm working on. He's is a retired wheelchair rugby player - hence why his chair looks so different to the other characters I've drawn so far - and when his wife (who's art is coming soon) started a wheelchair basketball team, but was struggling to get the numbers to actually play, he signed up too.<br>Personality wise, Kev is the team's jokey uncle and is meant to be a direct foil to the more serious characters on the team, like Ruby. He's already done the whole "serious athlete thing" and while he enjoys the game, at the end of the day, just there to have fun and support his wife, and remind the younger members to not get too wrapped up in it all.<br>He's a quad amputee (through the palms on his hands, above the knee on his legs) and is missing a good chunk of his tail too, making him a low-pointer on the court. Low point players are those who's disabilities impact their ability to play more severally, and they usually play in more defensive and supportive rolls than high-point players.<br><a href="https://lgbtqia.space/tags/Furry" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Furry</span></a> <a href="https://lgbtqia.space/tags/SFWFurry" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SFWFurry</span></a> <a href="https://lgbtqia.space/tags/FurryArt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>FurryArt</span></a> <a href="https://lgbtqia.space/tags/crocodile" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>crocodile</span></a> <a href="https://lgbtqia.space/tags/disabled" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>disabled</span></a> <a href="https://lgbtqia.space/tags/disability" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>disability</span></a> <a href="https://lgbtqia.space/tags/amputee" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>amputee</span></a> <a href="https://lgbtqia.space/tags/wheelchairSports" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>wheelchairSports</span></a></p>

clackups<p>I chatted on Reddit with a person who had both hands amputated, and he was interested in a macro pad to preprogram the key combinations that are difficult for typing with two sticks. I proposed him to try my one-handed keyboards instead (<a href="https://github.com/clackups" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">github.com/clackups</span><span class="invisible"></span></a>). Today I just took two Lego sticks and practiced typing. It turned out pretty usable, and the only parameter I had to adjust was the sticky key timeout. After increasing it from 500 to 2000ms, the keyboards were totally usable. The NuPhy is more flat, so a bit easier to work with the sticks, but the YMDK was ok to use as well.</p><p><a href="https://social.noleron.com/tags/amputee" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>amputee</span></a> <a href="https://social.noleron.com/tags/amputees" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>amputees</span></a> <a href="https://social.noleron.com/tags/veterans" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>veterans</span></a> <a href="https://social.noleron.com/tags/accessibility" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>accessibility</span></a> <a href="https://social.noleron.com/tags/disability" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>disability</span></a> <a href="https://social.noleron.com/tags/UkraineWar" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>UkraineWar</span></a></p>

Michele H<p>I got a call from a potential new client early last week who very recently became double arm amputee. He has lost both arms just above the elbow and is looking to have his sleeves altered in a way that won’t require his personal aide having to pin them up. </p><p>He’d like them open at the hem to allow airflow in the warmer months, but when it’s cold, he will need some that close. I’m giving thought on how to do both to the same shirt. </p><p>One thought is drawstrings that could be pulled closed before he puts the shirt on, cords puddled inside. 2nd thought is a pocket sewn on the front half of the sleeve that could be flipped over the hem a la a classic sandwich bag pre slide closure. Neither would require pins, snaps, or buttons. Anyone have any other ideas? I want to offer him multiple options if possible. <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/sewing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>sewing</span></a> <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/disability" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>disability</span></a> <a href="https://sunny.garden/tags/amputee" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>amputee</span></a></p>
