My last security tip is for anyone with <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Ortlieb" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Ortlieb</span></a> panniers.</p><p>There is a lock accessory, the QL2, to keep the panniers attached to the rack. I've just bought some and fitted them. I've not used them on a tour yet but they appear to do a good job. As you would expect, they are well designed and made, fitting easily to the bags with lots of adjustment possible.</p><p>Our valuable items stay in a handlebar bag that always comes with us when we leave the bikes unattended.</p><p><a href="https://uk.ortlieb.com/products/ql2-lock" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">uk.ortlieb.com/products/ql2-lo</span><span class="invisible">ck</span></a></p><p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://neuromatch.social/@forth" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>forth</span></a></span> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mstdn.ca/@uxmark" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>uxmark</span></a></span> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://mastodonapp.uk/@FourT4" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>FourT4</span></a></span> <span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://toot.io/@A_denie" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>A_denie</span></a></span> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/BikeNite" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BikeNite</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Cycling" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Cycling</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/BikeTooter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BikeTooter</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/CycleTouring" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CycleTouring</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/BikePacking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BikePacking</span></a></p>

The most innovative security involved a person rather than a device.</p><p>We visited the Kasteel Brouwerij Vanhonsebrouck in Emelgem, Belgium, where Kasteel beer is brewed. As we locked up our bikes outside before going in to start the tour, we were assured by our tour guide that our bikes would not be stolen. Our guide then introduced themselves as a local police officer!</p><p>We didn't doubt them, but we locked our bikes anyway 🙂</p><p><a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/BikeNite" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BikeNite</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/Cycling" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Cycling</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/BikeTooter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BikeTooter</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/CycleTouring" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>CycleTouring</span></a> <a href="https://social.vivaldi.net/tags/BikePacking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BikePacking</span></a></p>

kc posch<p>We had intensive training today: Rain clothes on -- off -- on --... It started raining while the sun was still shining. Then we hit this fantastic place on Lake Siljan south of Mora, Sweden. 5 minutes after I took this photo, it rained again. Most of our today's ride with the Bromptons between Mora and Rättvik was on gravel roads and led through forests. Tough!</p><p><a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/Brompton" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Brompton</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/BikeTooter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BikeTooter</span></a> <a href="https://mastodon.social/tags/BikePacking" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>BikePacking</span></a></p>

We are currently on a multi-day tour with our Bromptons from Sala to Idre, Sweden. Today, we bicycled along the beautiful river Dalälven. Rain was threatening all day long, but did not materialize. We are now in Borlänge, where the guys from the unsupported bicycle race Northcape4000 will come through in the next hours and days.

Spent a quiet rest day at Skogar after taking the bus into and out of Reykjavik Monday and Tuesday (which included tweaking my bad knee again). Hopefully these side trips are done with. The plan is to cycle to Vik tomorrow and hop a bus to Hofn Friday, which addresses a number of issues. #Iceland #bikepacking
