Shapeshifting Bog Wren
Some further investigating and I'm a little disappointed to say it wasn't an osprey but at least I identified what I saw.

It was a Crested Caracara. It looked like this thing. Really cool looking bird.

#BirdCallout

Shapeshifting Bog Wren
Sorry about the edit:
Adding the hashtag: #BirdCallout

My wife sent me this thing found on the interwebz a couple of weeks ago and it seems to be true.

Well, sort of true. I've always had an interest in birds and collected little gifts of feathers found here and there. My mother was fascinated by birds as well. But over the past few years, that interest has become even deeper.

And y'all... i've just found a website that is going to make my interest in birds even more obnoxious.

eBirds [dot] org !!!!

I came across because i was trying to figure out what kind of hawk I just saw. I've never seen one like this and it was so unusual. I found out it's an osprey. I saw an osprey!!! Heeee!

jendefer
#BirdCallOut American White Pelicans. Dozens! Saw this lifer on a recent train trip up the California coast. Some were flying around, too, so I could see the black on their wings. I've seen a pelican in America before, but not close or clear enough for complete identification, so very excited to have checked off another bird in my book.

Aside: also saw dolphins!

#birding

I've seen a female in the yard once or twice in the past year, but this is the first time I've seen a male here in ages. First he was sampling the bottle brush tree flowers and then he moved on to the suet cage full of grapes. Shapeshifting Bog Wren
Ha! How cool is this!
I saw a bird I haven't seen before.

I've never really considered myself a birder but I've always had an affinity toward birds and over the past several years get excited over seeing a bird I haven't seen before in the wild.

So I was on my way home after seeing a client and stopped for gas. As I was leaving I saw this little guy near some bushes so I pulled in to a parking spot and began walking toward him. I couldn't believe how close he let me get up to him.
Heee! So neat!

This is Bob.
