(2) Is there something in the body of the text that's mildly interesting? (3) Is account an actual person active on the platform? There are days when I clearly #boost too much because I think it might interest others.
Tip: If someone boosts too much, you don't need to mute that person. You can click on the 3 dots at the top of each profile and select ‘hide boosts from XY’. Then you will only read what the persons babble themselves.

Is there a way in (Glitch-flavoured) Mastodon to hide all boosts from my timeline?
I do follow a few people whose boosts are actually interesting (and not overdone), but the vast majority of boosts are just spam clogging my timeline, and I'm getting tired of hiding boosts from one user at a time.
(Also, fellow fedizens, please stop overboosting. A boost is not a "like.")
Context Boosts, wow. Excellent design idea. It really reflects the classical Mastodon approach of 1. Reply; 2. Boost the original post; 3. Boost your reply. I stick to this approach religiously, but elegant it ain't. Your Context Boost bundles these three steps into one. As you say, it preserves the continued involvement of the original poster, which twitter-style QTs don't. Excellent.

It never occurred to me that counts might be contextual. Pictured:
- 32 at infosec.exchange
- 5 at BSD Cafe …
I think it is like this:
Suppose A follows X and Y, while B only follows X but not Y.
Suppose Y posts toot T, and X posts two replies to T, R1 with visibility set to "unlisted", R2 with visibility set to "public".
Then A's timeline shows T and R2 but not R1, and B's timeline shows none of these.
Hence John Mastodon's advice to boost your own replies for sharing: if X boosts R1 and R2, both show in the timelines of A and B.
Why is it that there were #boosts right up until the #hurricane?
When support is inconsistent it ensures the homeless may find shelter, but not stable housing. And with even less consistency, loss of shelter.

Indeed. Neatly put. That's the way I was taught to do it, by John Mastodon himself. (He explained it to me when we rested in a lull during the Battle of the Hashtags.)
This is what John said to me: "Don't be afraid to boost your reply, Roamer. Just don't forget to stay in the thread. You let your friends listen to your conversation with the original poster."
