In recent years, there's been a move to digitize and making freely available online whatever people can get there hands on. Some of this is legally dubious, but most is totally legit.

For the past few years, I've taught a course on the history of #PeelRegion - #Mississauga, #Brampton & #Caledon, a mainly urban area that, if it were one city, would be the third largest in #Canada, just behind Montreal. There exists a minuscule body of academic histories of the region.

Abomininable attack on democracy:

This article has the best coverage I've seen about the impacts of Bill 212 to rural residents:

- 90 days to vacate one's home
- fines for failure to comply: $50k initial penalty, plus $10k per day of non payment. Penalty for 2nd offence is $100k
- Construction to occur 24/7, for years
- Grants province authority to enter private dwellings and use of force to take posessions of land

Bill 212, Hwy. 413 Traffic Act 'set dangerous precedent': Ontario Nature

"Falsely presented as an effort to reduce congestion in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA), these proposals would override municipal bylaws, affect property rights, threaten the Greenbelt and vital farmland, and destroy significant natural areas like the Holland Marsh."

It's Saturday, and I've been waiting for it to warm up before heading outside - It's 3.4°C right now. But the sun is shining, so I gotta use the good weather and continue cutting down perennials. This Friday is the last yard waste pickup for 2024, which gives me a deadline. Otherwise, I'm hauling yard bags to the recycling centre in our small SUV.
Put on my earbuds, crank some tunes, and let's go.

We were kicked out of our house early this morning for a scheduled real estate showing, so we took advantage of the crisp fall weather and took Harley for a hike. Sunny and 8°C with almost no wind. A 4km hike along an easy path, an old railway bed, almost made up for missing my usual 2nd cup of coffee.

Good Morning #Canada
Woke up to much cooler temperatures today, currently 9°C here in #Caledon. It's definitely feeling fallish, and the trees are displaying their #FallColours. We live in an area that gets a lot of visitors this time of year, and despite the inconvenience on weekends, we know that the autumn show has to be shared with others. #GetOutside in the next few weeks in your area of Canada and enjoy the colours and crisp weather.

This is likely our last summer in our current house, as my wife and I are planning to downsize. So #BloomScrolling posts will be bitter sweet as they form a historical record versus what we look forward to every year. We are building a gallery, for ourselves as well as for use by our real estate agent. The showy stuff is just beginning with more to come. Descriptions are in the ALT text.
