The surveillance camera (which I've been wanting to get rid of for a while) is now offering me a subscription to send me processed alerts via LLM, describing what is happening. It's already been problematic for a while to view the videos, filled with ads and limited to 5 seconds, and now they want to be paid and not even let me watch the videos anymore...

Hello all,

At work we got a Carvey by Inventables CNC machine from our IT department. We thought this was really cool and we'd get good use out of it. Until we saw what the annual subscription to Easel Pro is. That's....not an insignificant portion of our annual program budget. IT was like "lolno" at paying for a sub.

So I'm looking for free/near free alternatives.

Is the base #STL files? If so, #Inkscape is the best for those? What about for making the #gCode? I saw #CNCJs, but I don't know. This is beyond my limited expertise with with 3D printing.

Thanks for any help.

Even when development started in summer '79 it took twice as long as Apple expected, not only because they had to get rid of Jobs first. So LISA wasn't launched earlier than 1983 with 1Mb RAM for almost U$D 10K. The project was a $50 million investment for Apple Inc., and kept losses low since it sold almost 5K units annually. After 27 months it was in-house competition that buried the Lisa computers, litterally. In the end it was a zero sum game for Apple, but a huge step for modern graphic user-interfaces and more personal computers.

Hey #Cybersecurity folks! It's October which means yet again it's Cybersecurity Awareness Month and I am here with my annual plea NOT to abbreviate it #CSAM.

In security and law enforcement communities "CSAM" means Child Sexual Abuse Material, not Cybersecurity Awareness Month.

Try #CAM or just "Security Awareness Month" instead.

I will personally put anyone I see using "CSAM" on blast because it shows a complete lack of awareness of the very topic you're trying to make us aware of.

Bueno, pues ayer vi buena parte del debate de la #CAM. Partamos de la base de que "soy de izquierdas" y de que me parece que #AlejandraJacinto tiene un par de ovarios y fue la única que le plantó cara a Ayuso. Vaya eso por delante por el tema de la subjetividad.

Pero es que ya es insultante, indignante, que te tomen absolutamente por gilipollas redomado, que #Ayuso te proponga para mejorar el "medio ambiente" que "cada balcón de la comunidad tenga una planta".

Pero la gente de #Madrid qué narices piensa para que esta personaje se esté disputando la mayoría absoluta!!!??? Todo el rato haciendo referencias a las cervezas, al comunismo, a la libertad (para los suyos).

Reconozco que a veces pierdo la #fe en la propia #sociedad
