Canada Geese can be so excitable.

A pair of Canada Geese on the surface of a body of water. The male (I suspect), on the right, is swimming towards us and to our right; his neck is stretched out towards his partner (on the left) and his beak is open in mid-honk, showing his large, reddish-pink tongue. Only the front part of his mate is shown in this image; she is facing towards the right and has her head on her chest, looking very much like she is not enjoying the racket being made right next to her. The Canada Goose has a black head with a white patch on the throat which extends up each side of the head, tapering to a point behind the eye. The beak and the neck is also black, but the base of the neck and the chest is whitish. The wings and the upper parts of the body are covered by feathers which are brown with paler edges. The tail feathers are black.

The Canada Goose is indeed a fine role model amongst birds. Rosemary Mosco of Bird & Moon comics shows us why.

Although, having had my car hit by several of those high-fiber splats in panel 6, I can attest that the goose isn't entirely perfect.

Panel 1: ASSERTIVE. The goose is hissing; appropriate for a bird that is sometimes called a Cobra Chicken.

Panel 2: BRAVE. The goose faces down a much larger swan.

Panel 3: A GOOD PARENT. Mama and Papa Goose hiss at a dog, telling it to stay away from their goslings.

Panel 4: A TEAM PLAYER. Many geese fly in formation during their annual migration.

Panel 5: HAS A CRISP, MODERN AESTHETIC. The goose is a handsome bird, especially with its black-and-white head and neck.

Panel 6. Something which anyone who drives under the migration flyway knows: the goose eats A HIGH FIBER DIET, which exits in a lot of messy splats. Here, those splats get all over the ground. Well, nobody said the Canada goose was perfect!

Not something we expected to see while driving along.

Drove around Virginia Lake and two different Canada Goose families were out enjoying the sunshine with their little flock of goslings.

I was so busy looking at the babies on the ground, I didn't notice the baby sleeping on the adult's back!!

*dies of cute*

Two fluffy yellow goslings settle down in the dirt, bathed in warm sunshine. One has its head tucked against its chest, the other has its head up, with a short black bill and deep black eye standing out against the fuzzy baby feathers.

Canada geese rightly have a reputation for aggression. That being said, they like me and I've never been attacked by one. I grew up playing with domesticated geese.
