"The repatriation is both an apology for the destruction caused by #FrenchColonialism and a reassertion of its power. It is a reclamation of meaningful cultural objects and a funeral for a culture that no longer exists. It is a joyful celebration and a savage insult."

#Yemeni #cartoonist - Kamal Sharaf is unapologetic about his bold #political beliefs & #ArtActivism to illustrate his support for the resistance against past & present #ColonialViolence #genocide. He had been targeted, arrested & jailed for his resistance art activism before.

Most of his strongest #PoliticalArt pieces are targeted at illustrating the collaborative colonial land grabs driven #terrorism from #Israel & #Zionists in #USgovernment - both who blatantly violate #InternationalLaws. Both are guilty of multiple #WarCrimes & both aren't to be trusted. Bigoted buddies in ethnic cleansing genocide of Arab peoples. Best friends in pathological pitiful lying.

Between 1952 and 1960, Britain fought a vicious war in Kenya against the anticolonial Mau Mau movement. It was an exceptionally bloody conflict, with atrocities committed on both sides. For decades, many of the worst abuses by British colonial forces were kept hidden. Piecing together survivor testimonies and expert analysis from British and Kenyan historians, this film tells a complete and detailed story for the first time of how Britain was involved in systemic torture – including accounts of murders, rapes and forced castrations.

A Very British Way of Torture is a film by Ed McGown and produced by Rob Newman.

A #delegate from #MERC #Indonesia, a #MedicalRescue committee, says they received “two warnings” from the #Israeli army to evacuate Kamal Adwan Hospital in northern #Gaza, forcing the delegation to cease their #medical assistance operations.

Hossam Abu Safieh, the director of Kamal Adwan Hospital, said Israel conducted several strikes on Friday that hit the facility, one of the last functioning #health centres in the area.
"There was a series of air strikes on the northern and western sides of the #hospital, accompanied by intense and direct fire," he said, adding that four staff were killed and no #surgeons were left at the site.

Atta Jaber’s family has farmed the Baqa'a Valley in the illegally occupied #WestBank for hundreds of years, but since Israel’s 1967 occupation, their land has been confiscated piecemeal by Israeli settlers, and their homes and ancient farming terraces attacked and demolished. “The sound of the bulldozer is the music of the occupation,” says Atta - yet he preaches love and peace. Uniquely spanning 25 years in a farmer’s struggle to stay steadfast, this film is a moving #testimony to the depth of one man’s #humanity in the face of intensifying settler violence and intimidation. Rooted in the West Bank is a documentary by Bruno Sorrentino and Uri Fruchtmann.

Fellow #SaveOldGrowth forest defender, Sheena, made a short film. It includes the jingle dance circle with me & several other #environmental #landback #activists on the bridge between River & Landback resistance camps.

River & Landback camps were main strongholds at Fairy Creek blockade. River camp was the first resistance camp set up in 2020 & it ran for a year before final big raid. There are 2 very rough logging roads that lead up to untouched old growth forest tracts from these camps. River camp is also where people could go hike to see/visit with Grandmother & Grandfather cedars. After we were removed, industry started cutting more roads up into the untouched old growth tracts. Teal Jones logging company has since pulled out due to financial issues & everything is up in the air at this time. Temporary deferral was renewed this year for some tracts by this one particular area in the watershed. Still hoping for permanent protections as the elder trees are not included in this small deferral.

"My student documentary on the Fairy Creek/Ada'itsx old growth forest blockade 🌲 something of a collage, made with many hands and hearts. While the blockade and movement has evolved and gone through many stages, the momentum remains and many still carry forth the activism in heart and deed."

If you follow ANY #religious organization that claims one group of human beings deserve to live & others do not deserve rights to life too - you're morally fucked up. If you believe that shit - you're going to believe that #ColonialViolence is a good thing - when it is wrong. If you believe in that shit, you'd be OK mass murdering everyone else who thinks colonial violence on genocidal scales is absolutely reprehensible & part of evil #Zionist #cult #atrocities.

We, #AntiZionists don't want to slaughter all of you #Zionists. We want you to be arrested, face international war crimes trials & be imprisoned for your decades long #CrimesAgainstHumanity.

#RCMP issued an #apology on September 7, 2024, for the historic use of #StreetChecks and other harmful interactions with members of the #African #NovaScotian community. It was an apology too long in coming, for treatment that was, in the words of Rev. Lennett Anderson, “dehumanizing and tragic.” And the RCMP's history suggests we should be deeply skeptical that the proposed action plan will be even close to what is required to remedy these grave injustices.

In his 2019 report, written for the #NovaScotia #HumanRights Commission, Dr. Scot Wortley defines street checks as any occasion in which civilians are stopped by #police and subjected to intrusive questions, and their personal information collected into a database. He confirmed what community members have known for years: people of African descent in the #Halifax region are almost six times more likely to face street checks.

It took five years after the release of this report for the RCMP to apologize for the harms caused. They also committed to an action plan, developed in consultation with members of 13 African Nova Scotian communities and the Association of #Black #SocialWorkers.

Building the #SettlerColonial Order: #Police (In)Actions in Response to #Violence Against #IndigenousWomen in #Canada

Abstract:

In this article we focus on missing and murdered #Indigenous women, girls, and #2SLGBTQQIA people in Canada. We theorize narratives that police employ to respond to this violence. Using a broad data sample of #testimonies across Canada, this article contributes to understanding how police (in)actions make sense of, justify, and dismiss violence against Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA people. We draw from 48 in-depth semi-structured interviews with Indigenous peoples in Toronto and other Canadian cities and 219 testimonies from the Canadian National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls (NIMMIWG). The #analysis finds that police repeatedly use similar frames (topics), styles (linguistic and behavioral strategies), and storylines (narratives) to respond to violence against Indigenous peoples. While framing Indigenous women, girls, and 2SLGBTQQIA people as deviants helps police make sense of and explain violence against them, the use of verbal and behavioral strategies (indifference, callousness, and lack of information) and storylines (“they were [insert pathologizing frame]” and “there’s nothing we can do”) allows police to dismiss and justify acts of violence. We argue that the frames, styles, and storylines employed by police perpetuate violence. Police (in)actions are fundamental to achieving settler #colonialism’s ideological and material dimensions.
