Summary and transcript of the first eight minutes of the hour-long downloadable episode, including Kent's summary of his personal web work in lisp (mostly at Harlequin) through the 80s and 90s.

I'm hand-transcribing and summarizing, so this is something like part 1/6.

Go ahead. Take a look at the source code of Bill Atkinson's MacPaint and QuickDraw.
'MacPaint was written by Bill Atkinson, who was a member of the original Macintosh development team. He based it on his earlier LisaSketch (also called SketchPad) for the unsuccessful Apple Lisa computer, so he originally called it MacSketch. He started work on the Mac version in early 1983.
'Atkinson also created Quickdraw first for the Lisa, as LisaGraf. Andy Hertzfeld, another key member of the team, considers QuickDraw “the single most significant component of the original Macintosh technology” in its ability to “push pixels around in the frame buffer at blinding speeds to create the celebrated user interface.”'

"It was Mr. Atkinson who programmed QuickDraw, a foundational software layer used for both the Lisa and Macintosh computers; composed of a library of small programs, it made it possible to display shapes, text and images on the screen efficiently."

One of the great heroes in not just Apple history, but computer history, Bill Atkinson, has died at 74 from pancreatic cancer. #obit #RIP #ComputerScience #CS #IT #Technology #ComputerHistory #Apple

Here's a gem that I just found on the Internet Archive. It's a catalogue for the JOHN SANDS SEGA home computer system, from around 1984: https://archive.org/details/John_Sands_Sega_Home_Computers_1984_John_Sands_Electronics_AU/mode/1up

If you want a keyset sort of like the one used in Engelbart's demo of NLS but as a USB input then here you go: https://learn.adafruit.com/usb-keyset

@Christinecats My first pet alongside one of my first computers. (Static electricity didn't exist in those days.)
Talking with the folks in the local #vintage / #retrocomputing community, they clued me in that the #ThinkPad #RAID is a steaming pile of and not worth the trouble.
Oh well. Thanks for cluing me in
So I swapped out the two testing #NVMe drives I was using and reinstalled the original sticks - to have #windoz10 demanding for the #bitlocker recovery key.
Well, time to wipe & install #windoz11 then.
Install went fine, only 4 rando #drivers to find for all #devices to be recognized and working.
Using my #CTT scripts to install the majority of applications, then to remove the #spyware #bloatware and other garbage #micro$oft added to #windows11
Then migrate my #data from my other ThinkPad. Welcome to my #sunday #funday

Ok, I spent yesterday afternoon trying to get #RAID configured on my #lenovo #ThinkPad #P70 - to no success.
I found this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AyCC1NGe8a8&t=36s of the similar #p50 and configuring #RAID which shows the #BIOS interface but my P70's only show the "non-raid physical discs" I do not have an option for RAID volumes. Note I have upgraded the BIOS to the most recent version on lenovo's web site. Any thoughts?
I have attached 2 #screenshots of what the BIOS displays - I'm trying to configure the RAID on the two 512GB #NVMe sticks.
