#Christian #thought in its #original #form is about #defending and #sympathizing with the most #powerless #members of our #society and I think it’s one of the #greatest #tragedies in #human #history that something like that was so #throughly #corrupted and #weaponized by the very people it was #supposed to fight #against.
Like, scoring a goal as an attacker? Sure, feels good.
But as a defender, knowing that you just BENT SOMEONE’S REALITY for 90 minutes so that they felt not like the predator/poacher they walked on wanting to be, but a penned sheep?
That’s like having God French kiss your brain.
I also realise that this same personality trait was what I took pride in as a footballer.
Defence all the way: shut the predators down. Use presence, space & psychology to strip all their choices away. Force them to act out of urgency; capitulate or retreat. Protect the goalie.
No feeling like it.
