Have you ever had to have serious dental work done (requiring anaesthetic, etc) for something that could have been prevented by flossing? Such as, issues specifically starting between your teeth?

Silly question for #UK #NHS #dentist folks. I got an hand written appointment card the last time I was there. I will also get text reminded closer to the appointment.
The question is: has anyone ever re-used an appointment card. There are places on the card for multiple appointments but I have never given the card back to get another appointment.
Welp... the ice and snow trapped my dental hygienist in Helena, so no teeth cleaning today. While I wait for my haircut, here are the beautiful snowflakes falling on my car through the 10° Billings air: 
Brisk Monday morning... 8° now, it's been at least 7°, and it would be colder without the low clouds & fog. My morning dentist and haircut appointments will be chilly. I wonder if I can do both at once... 
It's unfortunately that time.
Got my teeth cleaned today…
Dentist: how’s it going?
Me: absolutely horrible.
Dentist: why?
Me: woke up in Nazi America last week.
Dentist: how can I help?
Me: make my teeth strong.
Dentist: so you can bite a nazi? I got you.

Back from dentist. Asthma attack from aircon, used ventolin, found someone to give me tepid water. Two hands cos so shaky. Settled. Into room, kept ventolin on lap, read from list to dentist, cried. She was nice, “one thing at a time.” She Heard me. Gentle, respectful exam, many stops, I tried not to yell too much. I apologised a lot. Xray. I shook a bit, but she said “you tried your best.” Another xray, other side, easier, not as sore that side. Looked at old night splint. Talked about facial nerves, TMJ, and how my TMJ had suddenly screamed when I opened wide for xray. About how bite felt all wrong. My bottom teeth just aren’t meeting my top. Ok, nobody has looked at the possibility my jaw was skewwiffed in the accident - even though I kinda landed on it when I face planted? Refer back to oral surgeon who is also maxillofacial guy. “Referral will need to be triaged, he’s back in his rooms tomorrow, his next appointment is Feb/March.” Have I mentioned I can’t chew? #Dentist #Teeth
Please send all good thoughts for me today - I’m back at the dentist who did the big filling on my front tooth a couple of weeks ago and it was not a great process then - and it’s way too big. It’s felt wrong, my bite is out, and I’ve just proved to myself it’s wrong by gently attempting to put my old night splint in - nowhere near a fit. This is going to be really hard.
Also I probably need a filling between two teeth, right near the 2 extraction sites, just on the opposite bit of this rebuild. #dentist #teeth

For me, I'll be heading to the dentist in about 2 hours. Having a major cleaning as they will be extracting my gums from my teeth and doing a deep cleaning on one half of my mouth. This part of one of two. Part two will be done November 19th. Not going to be a fun day at all unfortunately. At least I have today and tomorrow off to recover.
