‘Portretten’ (2 april 1968) Dutch television show, NTS
The television show evolved around Tati, who was in Amsterdam to promote his movie Playtime. He did some mime improvisations at Studio Bellevue and donated his honorarium to a good cause.
Other guests were Bert Haanstra, Hetty Blok, Cora Canne Meijer, Rinus Ferdinandusse and Kees Brusse. Probably also with Conny Stuart.

The day after #DavidLynch died, Portland-based journalist Katherine Cusumano drove up to Washington to visit the real #TwinPeaks.
In times of grief, what do we get from stepping into places depicted in art?

The Fate of Opposites
Word of Ingmar Bergman's death in Sweden, on July 30th (2007), had barely begun to register when the announcement was issued from Rome that Michelangelo Antonioni, too, had died, the same day. Bergman was 89; Antonioni, amazingly, was 94: their deaths were not unexpected, but the shock — of both, on the same day, given who they were — was real in a way that I imagined was no longer possible to believe in.... World Cultural Leaders of the Twentieth Century by Jennifer Durham Bass, 2020
A handy two volume set that makes it easy to look up 450 worldwide cultural icons: #novelists, #poets, #playwrights, #painters, #sculptors, #architects, #dancers, #choreographers, #actors, #directors, #filmmakers, #singers, #composers, and #musicians.
Francis Ford Coppola's latest film, "Megalopolis," has been pummelled by reviewers. But once upon a time, he made great films — in particular in the 1970s when he directed, in just seven years, "The Godfather," "The Conversation," "The Godfather Part II," and "Apocalypse Now." The Ringer's Miles Surrey makes the argument that this is the greatest four-movie streak in history, and breaks down the other filmmakers that might compete. Take a look at the article and tell us which of these directors you think comes out on top — specifically in this totally arbitrary and meaningless category of four consecutive great movies (due to the limitations of our poll, we have omitted some of the possible answers from the story; feel free to make your own suggestions in the comments).

@CultureDesk In my experience, all of director Christopher Nolan's films require AT LEAST a second viewing in order to get a good grasp of what's happening in the story line.

Got a chance to watch #WesAnderson's latest, Asteroid City. He's one of those #directors (along with either/both of the #Cohen brothers) that I will watch anything he creates, without knowing anything about it.
He's got a distinctive #visual #style that gives him away, but #AsteroidCity reinforces my hypothesis that the thing that truly is his signature is that every single character in his #movies is #insane, and none of them know it, about themselves or each other.
