Someday, I have to reupholster this chair (it's in worse condition now... fake leather splitting). The bunny is a lot older ;-)

Anyone around here ever try reupholstering a fake Eames chair? Curious how hard it is. (I know another MCM chair I have apparently cannot be reupholstered, because it is held together with glue and parts that break if you try to take it all apart)

ps. I paid $0.00 for this chair, it was out on the curb for trash day and I threw it in my truck.

I built a latency meter with an Arduino and a photo transistor to answer one question: Is click-to-photon latency higher on Wayland than on X11?

And the answer is: Yes, actually.

⏱️ 42 ms on X11, compositing off
⏱️ 56 ms on X11, compositing on
⏱️ 64 ms on Wayland
⏱️ 71 ms on Windows 10

Tested with Plasma 6.3.4 and Firefox 137. I will improve my methods and confirm these numbers. See replies for details.

hellooo fedi!!!

i am overdue for an #introduction:

i am a transfem artist based in #adelaide, kaurna yerta and have a background in #gamedev, specifically #virtualreality. i cant stop thinking about #transreality experiences, #pervasivegames, and other transmedia storytelling ( #ARGs! ), but most of my artistic practice would be in what i would more broadly call participatory #performanceart

i love #opensource, #diy (as in punk), #openscience, and building and pulling apart systems!!

My partners espresso machine had an electrical fire last month.

Decided to fix it myself and long story short, $65 in parts and a trip to Autozone she has a working espresso machine again.

Makes me wonder if I could help others locally save money by helping them repair things.

Side note I was very happy to see Autozone still has their DEI in place. I checked before going because no company who shuttered DEI is getting a penny from our pockets.

@susankayequinn very much in favor of making books more accessible and #DIY in this way! I got into #bookbinding a few months ago and found it to be much easier to make decent quality books than I'd ever expected! I favor the Pretty Perfect Paperback method but it's easy to jump to hardcovers from there! You can turn any PDF of an ebook into a print-ready version using online tools and I'd 100% encourage authors to release an interposed version so people can print and bind their own copies
