Ishambard<p>So, I have started working on my idea for a Doom map, sadly, I don't think setting different starting spawns with difficulties will work... But that's a good thing I suppose, one less thing for me to have in the back of my mind.</p><p>Still getting used to using SLADE 3, it's a little clunky and cumbersome, but I think with some time I will get my head around it.</p><p>So far, I have plotted out the staging area for my first map.</p><p>The concept is that Doom Guy is dropped off at a landing bay for a facility, going through the door there is an initial security checkpoint, through the little window I have made I intend to have wall with some computer screens on, making it look like some initial screening area after people arrive at the facility.</p><p>But everything seems awfully quiet right now, nobody seems to be manning the security station...</p><p>It took me way too long to get the door working, but hopefully future doors will be less problematic!</p><p><a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/Doom" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Doom</span></a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/DoomMapping" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>DoomMapping</span></a></p>

IrgndSonDepp<p>I sat down and built my first <a href="https://gts.da-miez.de/tags/doom" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Doom</span></a> map. 🥳<br>I used Slade and followed <span class="h-card"><a href="https://queer.party/@eevee" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">@<span>eevee</span></a></span> 's guide. It was super fun and I was able to develop my idea from a mere thought to a playable level in maybe two hours?<br>I still want to polish it a bit, because right now all the rooms look same-y with the same textures.<br>But the gimmick I came up with works surprisingly well and the level feels proper challenging without being unfair.<br>I'll make sure to put it up somewhere, possibly on my blog, when it's finished. 🙂</p>
IrgndSonDepp<p>Say... has anybody tried running custom <a href="https://gts.da-miez.de/tags/doom" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Doom</span></a> content on a hacked PS Vita?<br>I just listened to the recent DOS Game Club episode about Doom and now I'm kinda in the mood to play some Doom.<br>I'm sure custom maps and map packs will work fine, but I'm wondering if it's possible to play mods too. 🤔<br>I guess it will fall down once new keybindings are added.</p>
