The state of these word-final vowels challenged me to do further research. Later Old Norse, Old Swedish, Old Gutnish & #Elfdalian confirm they resisted syncope, indicating they were long. A qualitative split between *ō/ɔ̄ >ā >a vs. õ# >ō# >o#/u# shows they had been nasalised.

@elmerot Many refer to it as #Elfdalian in English. So cool to have the association with ”elfs” even if it is coincidental (”älv” meaning ’river’ in Swedish).
#Övdalian is based on the name of the language in the language itself: ”Övdalsk”
