@MagicLike September 1993 never ended though… #EternalSeptember
they don't want "the normies"
they fear an #eternalseptember
thing is, since this is federation, anyone worried about that can keep their niche communities separate and never encounter "the normies"
and, like erin said, we want "the normies" here
otherwise they get mindwiped by plutocrat agendas on centralized #socialmedia
to do that we have to make the process of getting into the #fediverse dead simple
dead. simple.
even picking a server is a step too high for many
yeah
if we ever want #mastodon #fediverse to grow, it has to be dead simple
dead. simple.
"i don't want all these normies on mastodon"
you kind of do
otherwise they are off in #twitter land or #rednote land or #facebook land getting mindwiped, and then voting
you can curate your mastodon experience to your hearts content, and avoid them all
don't worry about #eternalseptember on mastodon
worry about #plutocrat agendas controlling hordes of zombies
“I hope Macedon and the feta verse never lose that.”
The #EternalSeptember ethos of Macedon is reminiscent of pre-IPO Twitter.
It’s a feature, not a bug.
In hindsight, #EternalSeptember was probably where it all went wrong.
I remember the morning when #AOL #EternalSeptember happened.

I was once grounded from Gifted & Talented summer camp ate age 14, as consequence for incurring overage charges to the family phone bill because I was dialing into adult bulletin board systems, which charged by the minute.
Please tell me more about #EternalSeptember, #Usenet, #ContentModeration, and acceptable behavior of new users.
In the spirit of #EternalSeptember and Prince, party like it’s 1999 and Make the Internet Weird Again

1994 tee about #EternalSeptember.
I wonder if #Mastodon users have a similar feeling every time a big social network makes unpopular changes and there's a temporary deluge of new users.
Just that instead of doing stuff like ignoring netiquette, now they are all about getting followers and audience an' sheeeit.

I'm not sure who it was, but I missed documenting follow #666, again*
*I was over 1,700 followers earlier this year due to one or two trending posts that coincided with the great twitter migration, of which I was part, much like my role in #EternalSeptember in January 1994, but did an account cleanup and deleted inactive and low engagement/low quality followers a little while back.
I will continue with periodic checks and cleanups, so please post or engage with me if you like following me.
