Encourage every #MAGA to step away from their shiny new $6 billion tax for a moment & consider the circumstances & future they created for their oldest #rural relative.

Sitting in a freezing northern home with no heat subsidy or a swamped southern home without #fema, missing their puny #SocSec check because a trespassing bigball hacker fucked it up with no redress by phone, no #MealsonWheels, Sr center, or foodbank, #Medicare cut, no rural mail or #postoffice, scared of everything #Fox parlays.

“Rs need to restore #FEMA, now."

I'm really starting to wonder how viable that will be within an effective timeframe. By the time the MAGA zealots have come round to the realisation, the institution will be lost anyway.

IMHO blue and likeminded states should form a coalition to absorb this and other functions.

Per earlier posts, letter to Newsom from last year…

The incoming storm is a one-in-1,000-year event. Floods like this have a 0.1% chance of happening in any given year.

On Mon, AccuWeather published a report about the "conveyor belt of moisture," which is going to bring hours of heavy rain from Wed-Sat night from AK thru the MS Valley & into the OH Valley.

"That moisture plume, known as an atmospheric river, will be tropical in nature & originate from the Caribbean."

Rs need to restore #FEMA, now.

"Kristi Noem...serves in an administration that doesn’t appear to believe the American people should have any expectations that their government will help them. And that's not the mindset that should guide a rethinking of emergency management."

MSNBC · What Kristi Noem's threat to 'eliminate FEMA' really meansBy Jarvis DeBerry

THEY'RE TRYING TO KILL EVERYBODY!

I'm listening to Alex Wagner's podcast from a couple of weeks ago talking about how the #DisasterPresidency is decimating the #EPA.

And I think…

They're also trying to shutdown #FEMA.

…and the #NIH.

…and put a lunatic in charge of #HHS.

…and ignored/dismissed #Covid.

…and are ignoring #BirdFlu. And #Measles.

…and dismiss #ClimateChange.

…and defunding #Superfund toxic waste cleanup.

…and in his first term, repealed laws against dumping toxic coal ash.

"The Guardian has recreated a searchable climate future risk tool developed by #FEMA but then deleted.

The short-lived tool, which was keenly awaited within Fema as the first free, localized resource, [shows] how much #ClimateChange impacts will cost American communities."

Fulton Ring, the data company working to restore the data, said they "didn’t want taxpayer-funded work to go to waste."

Hearing from California, Iowa, Ohio and Oregon that #FEMA and #DHS has not released any disaster grant reimbursements in over 30 days. Most requests were submitted circa 2/20/25 with no funds received as of 3/26/25.

These are critical emergency disaster recovery grants. Lack of approved disaster funding will cripple governments as they work on their budgets. These reimbursements come from American tax dollars that are put into the Disaster Relief Fund.

I heard the head of the Department of Homeland Security Kristi Noem say she is closing #FEMA

#Trump wants to push that responsibility to the states.

#MAGA who live in areas prone to severe weather events will be pretty pissed off when their state runs out of money and FEMA doesn’t show up to help after a disaster.
