NLnetThe Flow Battery Research Collective (FBRC) are building an open source battery. Technology writer Koen Vervloesem did a nice write-up about their <a href="https://social.nlnet.nl/tags/fosdem" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#FOSDEM</a> talk in the Energy devroom. FBRC works on redox flow batteries which are better suited for long-term, stationary storage and less hazardous than Li-ion batteries.
