Web Browsers

I don’t intend to add a flood of software choices here. However, your web browser serves as the primary visual gateway to the Internet. For nearly everyone, it’s the main tool used to access the web.

When it comes to task management for us neurodivergents, and you're like me, then it's usually just a complete failure.
Todo apps just don't work how my head does, because my head is chaotic. My to do app for projects becomes insanely detailed and complex, before hitting a wall of limitation, and then I just get overwhelmed.
Then trying to work this way for more domestic tasks and organizing my life, all falls by the wayside and I seem to never get anything done.
So, I was trying out different task apps again, and came across a FOSS desktop app called WeekToDo Planner.
I saw that it was apparently a very minimal ToDo app, and I was expecting to try it for two minutes, then remove it for being too simple.
But it was this simplicity which actually ended up intriguing me and making it useful. The app is just daily columns to add tasks, which slides left and right, like an image gallery on a website.
I've been finding it useful being able to work out basic task a few days in advance, more like jotting down the overall things, rather than getting stuck in all of the details like I tend to.
A useful feature is the option to auto move tasks, where any undone tasks on a Wednesday, for example, will slide over to the next day.
I've found that this allows me to see tasks building up before it all becomes too overwhelming. And of course you can easily drag and drop, or delete tasks.
Now, I'm never going to be using this app for my project work, but it is helping me put some structure and focus into my general daily life.
So I'm sharing this with my Au and ADHD friends here in case this is useful for anyone else.

Thanks to @nlnet I was able to revamp and fully update the delightful #fediverse experience curated list, with hundreds of #ActivityPub-related #FOSS projects.

Just now I added a new section Application plugins, that will soon be published at:

Until that time you can check out the plugin section in the #Codeberg repo at:

One of the main advantages of using anything #FOSS nowadays is that it's refreshingly clean from AI slop and other spam features.

Contrarily to the preconceptions from 10 years ago, it feels like using boutique, premium software whereas formerly leading products are just slowly rotting to their core.

You are so fucking shallow and transparent blaming MS for all evil when Google has planted a spy mechanism on every idiot's hands around the globe, audio/visual/text spyware paid by the "consumer"..

Then you have the FOSS lobotomized crowd using chrome on linux and clicking google links on every site they visit running google scripts ... but on #FOSS

What absolute genius foss warriors we have "around us"

ONLYOFFICE introduces a flexible AI agent for document, presentation & spreadsheet editing—supporting cloud and local AI models 💻

As open-source users embrace AI, local-only options must be clearly highlighted & respected for privacy and control 🔒

This move is welcome—only if AI runs fully locally with transparent settings.

The pattern is unmistakable:

Reddit killed third-party apps with API pricing.

Twitter gutted developer access.

Meta continues tightening platform control.

Big Tech's endgame isn't serving users—it's controlling them.

Open source isn't just about free software anymore. It's about digital independence in an era of corporate digital feudalism.

zen80 is a simple Z80 emulator written in Go.

github.com/ha1tch/zen80

It's a preview version and it still doesn't pass all the tests, but it's starting to show some promise.

This is not a ZX Spectrum emulator, this is Z80 only (although some source examples show how to use zen80 to implement a running headless system).

The older hardcoded Spectrum emulator that has optimised screen display will be frankensteined with open heart surgery once I have the new zen80 ready and passing all the tests.

Absolutely loved @cyberlyra talk on "Building A Social Movement Toward Alternatives". Addressed so many great ways to help "free" your family from being "captured" and slowly introducing folks to the #fediverse or #foss one thing at a time. You don't have to move the whole world at once.

💡 MacOS app tip…

One of the few things I missed when I returned from Windows to Mac was the automatic activation of windows underneath the pointer.

If you also prefer that, the free AutoRaise tool has got you covered:

Commons Caretakers has a job opening for a coordinator for the NGI0 support services. Grantees of NGI0 funds can request a wide range of services, from technical writing to UX advice. The coordinator, well, coordinates between the support providers and the grantees.
You'll be working closely together with NLnet's Technology Assessors to support project teams.

Location is hybrid: partly remote and partly in-office in the Netherlands.
