Thanks to a recommendation from @imalcolm I've been listening all week to Technicians Of The Sacred from the mighty #ozrictentacles.
I haven't listened to them in years - my last purchase of theirs was 1993's Jurassic Shift - but it's great to see they're still making great music.

Whew, we made it through the lows. Now for a few highs to wrap up #Extremes #FridayNightJukebox #Music
No, this is not a band created by Wes Anderson for one of his identical movies. This is an actual band that existed in the Sixties. That album cover shows what it would be like if some accountants started a rock band. Too extreme?

Richard Thompson delivers one of the darkest songs ever for #Extremes #Music #FridayNightJukebox

When the day is done
Hope so much your race will be all run
Then you find you jumped the gun
Have to go back where you begun
When the day is done
Hold on tight, we're into the stage of #FridayNightJukebox where we face the lowest of lows. #Extremes #Music

It doesn't look like I'm getting on #FridayNightJukebox; weird, because it's Friday night where I am, but we plow ahead. Let's talk #Extremes. It's the entire album in one song. No Roger Daltry, so no histrionics for once. John Entwhistle plays the French horn on the song. The Muppets based Animal on Keith Moon, but his drumming on 1921 is exquisite. Pete Townsend was 24 when he created Tommy, which is kind of insane. #FridayNightJukebox #Music

A personal health crisis this week forced my latest-ever edition of #FridayNightJukebox #Music. Being in the U.S. I'm always coming in overnight for most of you, so if anyone's still up we'll see if I can take you to the morning light. First up: if you sell the world that's going the extra mile, and having Klaus Nomi as your backup singer is pretty #Extreme. Watch Klaus lift more weight than he's ever done in his life.
David Bowie - Man Who Sold The World (SNL):

Bonus Song: The Moon felt left out by all of this talk of #ScienceAndDiscovery on #FridayNightJukebox and came up with his own bit of #Music.

You'll Never Walk Alone, by Rogers and Hammerstein. Usually associated with Gerry and the Pacemakers, this song was originally from the stage musical, Carousel, in 1945. This version is from the ending of the 1956 film version, featuring Gordon MacRae and Shirley Jones.
Also of course the anthem of Liverpool Football Club.
Walk on, walk on
With hope in your heart
And you'll never walk alone
You'll never walk alone

"Well let the wild winter wind bellow and blow
I'm as warm as a July tooooomaaaatoooo
There's peaches on the shelf, potatoes in the bin
Supper ready, everybody come on in
Taste a little of the summer
Taste a little of the summer
Taste a little of the summer
My Grandma put it all in jars"

if tonight’s #FridayNightJukebox isn’t #AllSoulMusic we’ve missed a trick (and treat)
Best live show I’ve ever seen—it was 1977, I think? #FridayNightJukebox #ToddRundgren #GoodbyeOrHello https://youtu.be/xIacuOjtanQ?si=7EFkqvuyk48_3pdY
I’ve been thinking that since May is AoNZ Music Month that maybe we should squeeze some of that into the #JukeboxFridayNight theme either this week or next.
#AotearoaNewZealandMusicMonth theme? Or #AotearoaMusicMonth or… something else? Idk, just a passing thought.
#FridayNightJukebox (bc I always mess up which tag is the right one).
Ahead of **#FridayNightJukebox, **I'm reliving what was (one of ?) the best gigs I attended (after queueing overnight). London's Lyceum filled with dry ice and blinding white flood lights and then suddenly this track bursting to life. Mike Rutherford, Tony Banks and Daryl Stuermer were all at the top of their game but it was the supremely matched drumming of Phil Collins and Chester Thompson had a 16 year old me enthralled (and still does to this day).
saw dick move open for the breeders and foos last month and lemme tell ya, nothing wrong with the others, but they were the highlight

dick move - women take the streets, (take the fucken streets)
They Might Be Giants have been making great music for a very long time
Since it’s #DollyParton’s birthday, I’m sharing what I think is the best live version of Jolene.
Her voice absolutely shimmers here. Sounds better than the original recording. Plus, she tells the hilarious story about the real life Jolene at the beginning.
Oh yea, it's Jukebox Friday Night (in the afternoon). The theme is apparently "Transcendence" / "Lose Yourself" - or to quote, "uplifting, joyous & otherworldly tunes..."
Well, how about Space Suit from They Might Be Giants' album Apollo 18 https://songwhip.com/they-might-be-giants/space-suit
It's an all instrumental piece that is very otherworldly and can just help you transcend or relax as you lose yourself to the music.
I missed #FridayNightJukebox again
