This is a CPU graph of a web host that began having AI bots absolutely slam it starting at 4am UTC.
I blocked all Chrome user agents older than 120 at about 10:45 UTC.
These AI bots aren't using "nice" names like ChatGPT or AmazonBot. No, more like Chrome/116 or similar and they come from ALL OVER.
I am so tempted to put Iocaine or Nepenthes on the machine to generate Markov Chain garbage to poison the well, but I'd have to have Nginx map the older user agent string with regex. It probably could be done but this might piss off my employer.

I would like to commission some art SPECIFICALLY to run through #Nightshade and post somewhere on my blog to trap scrapers.

No NSFW art at this stage and I personally don't like horror or gore but otherwise go nuts. The art is yours to do with what you want but I will need some kind of agreement that says I can use it for anti-scraping purposes!
I would also encourage others, especially in tech, who can afford it to do the same.

As gross as it all is, I'm not even remotely shocked or surprised to see the no-talent fascist pricks in the White House posting generative AI #slopaganda. Of course they are.
It's who they are.
I'm not even going to bother being outraged that they've co-opted a Ghibli-esque art style to do it. They want us to be outraged, but shitty plagiarism and creative appropriation are the only things generative AI is good for.
It's what it is.
The emerging picture is that, for all of its possibly beneficial uses, #AI is fast becoming the tool tech-oligarchs use for strip mining humanity’s future.
I am increasingly uncomfortable with using it.

The anti-AI artifacts are a bit too prominent on this one for my liking, but maybe if I pretend it's the texture of my watercolor paper?
Oh well I don't even care anymore about image quality, I just hope the AI model chokes when it trains on my images.

OK really it's called "Survival Game" but that's the basic idea. Some Cornell researchers decided to put various LLMs through their paces, giving them a limited number of tries to solve a variety of problems, and eliminating those that failed in successive rounds of evaluation. I do NOT have the time to read this comprehensively, but from the intro:
Our results show that while AI systems achieve the Autonomous Level in simple tasks, they are still far from it in more complex tasks, such as vision, search, recommendation, and language. While scaling current AI technologies might help, this would come at an astronomical cost. Projections suggest that achieving the Autonomous Level for general tasks would require 1026 parameters. To put this into perspective, loading such a massive model requires so many H100 GPUs that their
total value is 4 × 107 times that of Apple Inc.’s market value. Even with Moore’s Law, supporting such a parameter scale would take 70 years. This staggering cost highlights the complexity of human tasks and the inadequacies of current AI technologies.

AI isn’t a musician. Writing a prompt to have AI generate a track doesn’t make you a musician.
The ‘people said the same about sampling’ crowd don’t understand the argument they’re involved in.
