Antóni<p>Today is International Mother Language Day (<a href="https://masto.pt/tags/IMLD" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>IMLD</span></a>) — a worldwide annual observance held on February 21 to promote awareness of linguistic and cultural diversity and to encourage <a href="https://masto.pt/tags/multilingualism" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>multilingualism</span></a>.</p><p>I grew up in a monolingual <a href="https://masto.pt/tags/Spanish" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Spanish</span></a>-speaking household but was exposed to <a href="https://masto.pt/tags/English" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>English</span></a> and the <a href="https://masto.pt/tags/Galician" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Galician</span></a> variety of <a href="https://masto.pt/tags/Portuguese" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Portuguese</span></a> at an early age.
