Viktor Glukozavr KurochkinToday, I want to share my H.E.A.R.T. rate of Moonscars game! It's an indie metroidvania with a pinch of soulslike in a unique gloomy art style and nice story-telling. It's a fun and free shooter. The twist is, you are expected to die. A lot. You start with a puny pea-shooter:After every level you can upgrade your weapons - which last until you die. But every few levels, you get the chance for a permanent upgrade. So you restart with more powerful guns, shields, and armour.Here's how it looks at the start:And by the time you're fully kitted out, you'll have an experience like this:It only takes a few hours to complete - and you get a bit of a workout from ducking and diving away from all the enemies.The graphics, music, and sound effects get a little repetitive - but isn't a blockbuster experience at a premium price. On some levels, the game stutters as it tries to keep up with drawing hundreds of fast-moving projectiles. You do have to exit the VR view in order to see what permanent upgrades you have.But it is the sort of game which is immediately accessible. There's no learning curve - just point and shoot. Get ready for a slow-motion exploration point and click that is also an idle game with low-key mining and crafting elements. Immersive, dark, wonder-inducing storytelling. Terri K O 🍁Phew, I'm behind on reviewing library books. These were returned Nov 19, 2023.My book: From Bad To Cursed - another from the witchy town of Thistle Grove. Mostly it's the mystery of who's curses are messing up the spring celebration, but when the necromancer girl gets paired with her nemesis from the druid clan (who was one of the contestants in the magic tournament in the first book) they start to learn more about each other long before they figure out the curse. A pretty nice cozy read overall despite the scary curses going on. Kid books: A Night in Santa's Big Bag - a lamb toy climbs into Santa's bag and tells the toys inside about the outside world to help them get over their nervousness about what is going to happen to them. Very cute, and conveniently my kid has a similar lamb toy from New Zealand.How To Light Your Dragon - funny story about a dragon who doesn't want to spew fire.The Bad Seed - a story about learning to not be a bad seed.
