Looks like the big music labels are soon going to sell out their artists to AI companies. Of course, they will do that. Looking at the history of big music labels, it’s clear that they exploit artists as much as possible as well.

Wordpress has formed an AI team 😨

"AI is already transforming how people create and manage content online. As this technology evolves, it’s essential that WordPress remains at the forefront, ensuring innovation happens in the open, guided by community values, and built to core standards."

So that means more generative AI features are probably coming to Wordpress. 😒

wordpress.orgAnnouncing the Formation of the WordPress AI Team – WordPress News

If you are a professional artist (meaning you generate a significant part of your income through art), how has the emergence of generative AI (AI that produces images, animation, music, …) impacted your livelihood?

If you don't use genAI, and have experienced no significant changes w regards to your income, this is seen as a "positive impact" since you can continue to do your job, and make a living, as usual (and the poll on this instance only offers 4 reply options).

Google DocsClassroom Policy/Guidance on AI Generative ToolsThis form is to collect and share examples of policies/classroom syllabi that are instructors are using that focus on AI Generative Tools (e.g. ChatGPT, MidJourney, Dall-E, etc.). If you have one that you would like to share, I will place it on this document with others so that folks can see these examples and help to figure out their own approach. If you have an Institutional-wide Policy that you would like to share, please use this form which will go to this resource. If you have any questions about this form or the document where this will end up, please contact, Lance Eaton. If you wish to submit yours but remain anonymous in some capacity, please email me at the contact above. Emails are collected for follow up clarifications, they will not be shared on the document unless requested in the final question ("Additional information you want to share"). Otherwise, we'll share the policy, the course name, institution, and name of the person sharing (unless indicated otherwise). Banner image - Photo by MJH SHIKDER on Unsplash.

There is a difference in saying to the customers "who constantly ask about whether you have #AI features" that you "(still) don't have AI yet" and saying that you "weighed the pros and cons against the use cases and came to the carefully considered conclusion to decide against the use of AI and standing by that statement."

These two tell if you are
✅ ahead of trends
✅ not blindly driven by the hype
✅ well-informed
✅ living your values

I started a page in my personal wiki collecting writing & reporting that's critical of LLMs/generative AI

I have enough times when I want to explain the *many* reasons I have the opinions I do that I figure it'll be helpful to have it all in one place:
