I love del Toro. Every frame is a love letter to movies. Oscar Isaac is a delicious bonus. I just wish Netflix did physical releases.

"The Vampyre" (1819) by John William Polidori is the progenitor of the romantic vampire archetype in horror literature. Unlike many other vampires, Lord Ruthven can be killed by conventional weapons. However, if moonlight falls on his corpse, Ruthven comes back to life.
Did you know that our upcoming #gothichorror game is on Steam and you can WISHLIST it today? Please do! It really helps.
Our game is set in #Ireland in the infamous Hellfire Club

"Two yards of loose earth was the sole barrier between us. I said to myself - 'I'll have her in my arms again! If she be cold, I'll think it is this north wind that chills me; and if she be motionless, it is sleep.'"
- Emily Brontë, "Wuthering Heights" Fritz Eichenberg
I just finished #reading #TheSouthernBookClubsGuideToSlayingVampires by #GradyHendrix. This is the first book in a long time that has kept me up reading WAY too late. In spite of having a kid at home sick and needing my care, I finished this book in less than 3 days.
On the story: while the bloodsucker in question is, indeed, horrifically awful, the character I most despised was the MC's husband.

Viy is a 1967 Soviet gothic horror film based on a Gogol story. A girl's corpse doesn't want to stay dead. Wildly imaginative, crazy, perfectly captures the feel of folk legends and fairy tales. Creepy, spooky, with inspired fantastic imagery.
My review: https://princeplanetmovies.blogspot.com/2024/09/viy-1967.html
Antonio Margheriti’s Web of the Spider is a colour remake of his excellent 1964 Castle of Blood. With Klaus Kinski as Edgar Allan Poe! A good slightly offbeat gothic horror film featuring ghosts (sort of) and a nice aesthetic. Cool ending.
My review: https://princeplanetmovies.blogspot.com/2024/09/web-of-spider-1971.html
"[The revelers] died each in the despairing posture of his fall. The life of the ebony clock went out.... The flames of the tripods expired. And Darkness and Decay and the Red Death held illimitable dominion over all."
- Edgar Allan Poe, "The Masque of the Red Death" Harry Clarke
Monster of the Opera (1964) seems like a typical "young lady in semi-transparent nightie running in terror" gothic horror film but turns out to be much odder. It's a vampire in a haunted theatre film. Or maybe it isn't. Bizarre but fascinating.
My review: https://princeplanetmovies.blogspot.com/2024/07/monster-of-opera-1964.html
Can anyone think of any examples of books or movies that are gothic horror in space? Off hand, Event Horizon and The Black Hole come to mind.
Counting down to relaunch of THE CROWS - excited to continue this journey and share the next steps with you. #booksbooksbooks #gothichorror #gothichorrorwithtentacles #indieapril #horrorbooks #horrorfiction

One of the things I am most proud of is our short film, 'Garden Of The Gods.' It has aged like a fine wine, in my opinion. Loved making it and loved seeing people react to it.
You can watch it here: https://vimeo.com/screendoorpictures/gotg/
LOGLINE: Mike is fiercely proud of his Mexican heritage. Felix sells drugs for the thrill. Between them is a deadly matter of vengeance.

Sunless Skies: Sovereign Edition is a 2D top-down "Gothic Horror" RPG, that's part visual novel and part "what the hell did I just play?"
You start the game as the first mate of a space-faring Victorian steam locomotive that sails through the aether unmoored from such frailties as railway tracks.
It only gets weirder from there.
I genuinely don't know how to review this game, or quite honestly, how I feel about it.
There's something here that I can't quite put my finger on; Sunless Skies: Sovereign Edition is:
3: OK...?
