Been a while since I posted a greenhouse status update. The roof is almomost completely done, only missing one pane - I broke one putting it up, and itis taken a while to get a replacement.
Also almost halfway done with the wall glass - just two more pones for the bottom concourse. It's really starting to feel like a proher structure!
The odds of a greenhouse roof landing on you are pretty slim but they're not 0%
Still got a lot of seeds to sow but things are well under way. Very happy with all my little babies. #allotment #gardening #greenhouse #seedlings
Wishfully looking at greenhouse kits and I've actually come across a few that cost much more than my first house. Of course, my first house cost $25,900, but a greenhouse sure shouldn't be more than that!
Trump’s EPA Cancels $20 Billion in Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund Grants
United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Administrator Lee Zeldin has cut $20 billion in grants awarded by the Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund (GGRF) through a “green bank.”

Lufa Farms has the right idea - building rooftop greenhouses for fresh veggies above hyperstores/supercenters. They currently serve #Quebec and #Ottawa

(rooftop solar panels: also a good idea)
Over the past few weeks, I have been working on a compact greenhouse on wheels. It’s almost entirely created from upcycled materials. Our neighbors generously gifted us with some plexiglass he had laying around.
As a result we are able to move the greenhouse depending of the sun‘s position. We have also started some growing some new seedlings, including corn, kidney beans, kohlrabi and radishes.
Maybe it's not the point yet but...
"[...] #greenhouse gas and #carbon #emissions have been allowed to rise due to the global presence and constant state of #war -readiness, [...], and the power of military-industrial complexes, which result in politicians defending environmentally hazardous military projects"
But, hey, let's double our spending, we've got plenty of time to fuck up the planet

Of all the characters in the Mario franchise, the one that gets the shortest end of the stick is Stanley the Bugman.
He got to star in two game-and-watch games, Greenhouse and Donkey Kong 3, as well as the arcade and NES versions of DK3.
When Nintendo released remakes of G&W games as part of the Game and Watch Gallery series, Stanely got cut from the games he originally starred in, replaced by Yoshi in Greenhouse and Mario in Donkey Kong 3.
Then, he received no further official appearances beyond a few cameos.
There's a seemingly-unrelated boo named Stanley in Paper Mario...unless they're actually the same and Stanley died between the events of DK3 and Paper Mario.
As payback we should get a remake of the original Donkey Kong and Yoshi (puzzle game) where Mario and Yoshi are replaced by Stanely.

Plans are:
Greenhouse: tomatoes, bell peppers, cucumbers
Pots in front yard: potatoes, lovage
By driveway: rhubarb
New field: corn, hokkaido, butternut squash, courgettes, maybe decoration pumpkins for Fall
Raised beds: savoy cabbage, lettuces, strawberries, radishes, spinach, leeks + carrots, onions + garlic
Now that we’ve settled on this, we’ll flesh out more plans like basil with tomatoes and marigolds somewhere to do some of the partnering to ward off baddies.
I tried the 3 sisters last year inspired by Robin Wall Kimmerer in “Braiding Sweetgrass”, that is, corn + squash + runner beans. However no one is hyper about runner beans so it’ll be 2 sisters only this year.

Successful house meeting about the 2025 garden. March will involve lots of digging to prep a new plot. Last year was a practice year and an utter newbie year. Now I’m upping my game. #gardening #zone7b #greenhouse #GardeningNewbie
Right, some initial notes on these #RP2350 Melopero Perpetuo #LoRa boards: https://yvan.seth.id.au/melopero-perpetuo-first-notes.html
Long story short: they work... I can make LEDs flash, that's the key thing... right? Can also read the internal temperature sensor and check battery status.
A few "bugs" in the examples and a slightly faulty board.
So far, so good... Next job is to get one of them transmitting the temp and battery status to the other. Will need to think about how to "package" that data for reliable tx/rx, probably need some redundancy, etc, maybe a buffer window of data. Then I need to dig out some of my various sensors and decide what to hook up to the "remote" to send to the local. The local will probably then relay data to a connected computer via the serial console I guess.
Project #Polytunnel Telemetry is GO! Well, if I can get a signal that far, otherwise this becomes project #Greenhouse Telemetry... the greenhouse is about 30 metres away, the polytunnel is a kilometre.
So I've tinkered a great deal with both insulating/blocking windows from the heat while also finding ways to draw some #NaturalLight through these barriers to prevent the interior from being not only #greenhouse-hot, but also #bunker-dark.
