I’m currently picking up my NASA work again, building an <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Apptainer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Apptainer</span></a> container to be shipped to Oxford University. Clair (KD3BCC) :vinyl_record:<p>Finally took the flowerpot antenna outside yesterday. I can't tell if it's any better than the antennas I have for my HT. I guess I'll just have to use it more? I still haven't hit the transmit button. That's probably another issue. Gotta get over my "I don't want to seem like a dumbass," and nd just key up.</p><p><a href="https://squid.cafe/tags/hamradio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>hamradio</span></a> <a href="https://squid.cafe/tags/AmateurRadii" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AmateurRadii</span></a></p>
Art H.<p><span>This is my HF antenna as of yesterday afternoon. It's the FMJ Basic from Alpha Antenna on a surveyor's tripod and the same setup I've used for field day many times in the past. It works well without radials and is the way I've always used it, but this time I decided to put some radials under it to see if things would improve.<br><br>SWR actually went up slightly after I did that. That's with an analyzer though and I haven't actually hooked this up to a radio yet to see how it would perform in this configuration. This is all temporary anyway until I can get something better up in the air.<br><br></span><a href="https://sharkey.world/tags/AmateurRadio" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#AmateurRadio</a> <a href="https://sharkey.world/tags/HamRadio" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#HamRadio</a></p>
Jake Averill<p>Last week, I activated the <a href="https://toot.wales/tags/SOTA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>SOTA</span></a> summit of Moel Gyw. This time I was going to give <a href="https://toot.wales/tags/23cm" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>23cm</span></a> a proper go and I could see a few others had similar plans.<br>Armed with my FT-857, SG-Lab transverter, loads of suncream and no idea on how I was going to connect and mount the gear when I got there, I set off. <br>Parking was a pain, and it took some trial and error at the top, but I made 9 QSOs on 23cm with the PCB antenna and 2w! After that, I moved to <a href="https://toot.wales/tags/2m" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>2m</span></a> which was good fun as usual. <a href="https://toot.wales/tags/HamRadio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HamRadio</span></a> <a href="https://toot.wales/tags/AmateurRadio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AmateurRadio</span></a></p>

Jens Hannemann<p><span class="h-card" translate="no"><a href="https://infosec.exchange/@cliffwade" class="u-url mention" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">@<span>cliffwade</span></a></span> Morning, Cliff. We're getting a new roof as we speak. Hopefully will be done by 6pm tonight. I’ll be shipping some NASA code via <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/Apptainer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Apptainer</span></a> to Oxford University after tracking down some bugs in both apptainer and the code itself. I'll spend the weekend studying up a bit to upgrade my <a href="https://mastodon.online/tags/HamRadio" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>HamRadio</span></a> license and thinking about how to improve my wireless communications class for next semester. There will be the occasional beer sprinkled in for relaxation.</p>
