I facilitated an online workshop for @freetechproject tonight and it's the first time we tackled technology to fight #Covid (Co2 monitors, air purifiers, #HEPA, #CorsiRosenthal boxes, #NukitTempest, etc) as well as why this is important (what Covid is, how it spreads, etc) and the small (predominantly older) group was very open to the ideas, sincerely inquisitive about the topic, interested in reducing risk, aware of inclusion issues, and sensitive to my own experiences as carer for a partner disabled by Covid. I'm also realising that people genuinely refer to "Covid" in the past tense sometimes because they wrongly associate it with government policy, while at the same time they very clearly understand that #CovidIsNotOver. My point is, keep tackling the topic, and keep giving folks the benefit of the doubt -- humans are of course good at heart and state policies, and obviously the establishment media, may very well indeed not, in fact, reflect people's actual concerns about Covid.

Indoor air quality and ventilation folks… I need some help!

I’ve been dealing with terrible VOCs in my apartment that are making me sick. I’ve been trouble shooting for months but can’t figure out where they’re coming from.

My building has four MAUs (make up air units) on the roof that are supposed to pressurize the hallways and supply fresh air from the roof. They needed replacing, and when they were turned off the vocs in my unit dropped considerably.

Best as I can tell the pressurization must be causing excessive air leakage from someone else’s unit into mine.

I have to constantly keep a window open in order to run any exhaust fans, and they’re still high.

Here’s my latest dilemma. I’m in a tiny condo with just a living room and bedroom. Living room has a sliding door to a balcony and bedroom has a window.

I want to put a portable air conditioner in the bedroom as it runs ridiculously hot, but that will mean sealing off the window.

The portable unit comes with a hose to vent the unit out the window … so does that mean it will constantly ventilate as long as the unit is “on”?

If that’s the case it might actually help the VOCs, but I’m unsure if I’m understanding correctly.

I assume if the unit is “off” it would provide less fresh air than an open window, but appreciate any advice!

Hey #CleanAir folks, anyone have to hand the advice on how often to clean the pre-filter for your #HEPA air purifier? I feel like the filter proper needs replaced soon too, but my Midea model is supposed to flash a little symbol that it hasn't yet

“Relying on #vaccinations as the measure of whether people are likely or not to transmit (#COVID) to vulnerable patients is a very dangerous strategy,” Gregory said.

Instead, he added, it would be best if everyone wore masks in public health settings whenever possible.

Mitigation measures such as properly worn #N95s, #HEPA air filtration, ventilation and avoiding high-risk areas like indoor crowded spaces are “all variant proof,” Gregory said. “No variant has evolved to circumvent an N95.”

In educational institutions:
* #HEPA cleaners and #UVC lights are effective, especially when properly sized and positioned relative to the infected and susceptible persons.
* HEPA cleaners could reduce #aerosol particle load by 85-95% within less than 20 minutes of operation.
* Implementing proper #ventilation and air cleaning strategies can create safer environments for students and staff, reducing absenteeism and promoting better learning conditions.

NSTC advice to government:

In #healthcare settings:
* Negatively pressured rooms relative to corridors help prevent contaminated air from escaping.
* High efficiency particulate air (#HEPA) cleaners reduce clearance time significantly, compared with the #HVAC systems alone.
* Using two domestic HEPA cleaners on a ward removed 99% of all #aerosols substantially faster than on wards with no air cleaners.

There are a range of #IndoorAirQuality strategies that could reduce the transmission of #airborne viruses in indoor public environments by increasing the amount of clean air for building occupants, including:
dilution of contaminated indoor air via #ventilation with cleaner air through mechanical ventilation such as heating, ventilation and air conditioning (#HVAC) systems
air cleaning technologies such as high efficient particulate air (#HEPA) cleaners… (3/4)

It's nice to see people learning about the effectiveness of #IAQ monitoring and #HEPA air filters in limiting the spread of all airborne diseases, but guys, I got parenting and homeschooling and hobbies, so please, can more people follow @cleanairstars and the hashtags #CleanTheAir and share info, and also agitate for cleaner air in (at the very least) hospitals and schools?

We are all we have.

& interacting w/the normies weekly in👩🏼‍🚀😷

Idk if anybody saw Clueless, but back when I cared about GPA..was like Cher in selling my teachers into giving me higher grades😂

Obvi at 40-something couldn’t care less, but initially thought I was certain to get my first C in a drawing class of all things🤦🏻‍♀️

My teacher was super hostile to👩🏼‍🚀😷but 1 day we got stuck outside room waiting for security to unlock door & started talking about Covid & my👩🏼‍🚀

After humanizing myself her attitude COMPLETELY changed as did my assignment grades & I guarantee you my artwork if anything, got worse😂

She also got Covid “for the first time”🙄 a few weeks ago but guess what.. STILL NO MASK, yet overheard her talking to another student about asymptomatic spread, nobody tests etc…

It wasn’t my place to tell her she should be masking b/c quite frankly if me wearing a #HEPA helmet isn’t a clue… idk what to say

Tried to be helpful, sent her a metformin study & suggested some supplements… & turmeric is what she’s going for because 1 was the 2nd person who recommended it to her🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

Girl…turmeric as great as it is, ain’t going to do much

Sigh

Anyways, told her if she wanted info to feel free to ask as there’s nothing more I can do for people who don’t want to hear the truth🤷🏻‍♀️

Had an interesting revelation recently about #microclimateAir2 ➕😷which someone might find interesting

Generally I wear pastel colored masks.. light blue, lavender, beige when wearing my #HEPA helmet

However I’m very behind in making myself😷& the pastels are on their last legs so for the very first time ever, paired it with navy & it was strange how the public took it

got📸more than any other time & it made me think… are dark colors de-humanizing where people just act like assholes blatantly?

A brief run-down of my standard practice for #COVIDcautious hairdresser housecalls etc.

The client and I both take RATs the morning of the appointment. I wear a mask, I recommend the client does too (although can be tricky with sideshaves et al), and ideally we work in a room where there's windows that open for ventilation.

On nice days I've cut hair on people's decks, wind permitting. 😂

I also have my CO2 monitor, and I am considering saving up for another #HEPA filter that I can bring +
