Shady JonPhew! Back in my regular hearing aids and life is good. I did luck out with the loaners that they gave me. High end and brand new, they were probably the best that I could hope for in the interim while mine were being fixed. Shady JonI kinda hit the hearing aid lottery today! My right HA died on Monday. Took it in to my audiologist today to ship off to get fixed. Their office will supply loaners when this happens, and today she said "we just received a brand new model of hearing aids this week. They are not meant to do this, but frequent comments from around the country show it's a common tactic.Basic NHS aids (ussually Oticon Engage devices) are fine for most people - and the batteries, spares & servicing are all free from the NHS unlike the private (expensive) devices.Private hearing aids are often less noticable as they can be 'in the ear' devices and they can have more functions which some people like, but others find confusing.I've been happily using NHS aids for a lot of years and have no issues with them.(Note that with Heaing Aids you are entitled to a Disabled Persons Railcard)<a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/hearingaids" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#hearingaids</a> <a href="https://cupoftea.social/tags/hearingloss" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#hearingloss</a>

Learned today I have mild, mid-range hearing loss which is not bad enough to need hearing aids. I do need to pay attention to it because it will worsen over time. 2. Closed all my fitness rings today and got my 10,000 steps in even though we spent a couple hours at the audiologist. 3. Hubs placed the order for resistance bands and a Sunny Health and Fitness smart twist stepper. The bands will be delivered tomorrow so that will give us another source of fitness! Myotis :fediverse:Help me mastodon! Since apple maps changed names of things I would like to use a different map ap. But the thing I like best about apple maps is that it tactually does different iWatch buzzes for left and right and a few other things. Eg: my apple watch vibrates with unique patterns for turns. Every now and again i miss things on a phone call. NicolaIs there a Thing (app, dongle, hardware device) that would let my kid stream music from their iPhone to a Bluetooth hearing aid in one ear and a regular Bluetooth headphone for the other ear? Assume neither are airplay compatible. After falling down various assistive tech audio rabbit holes (ooo music haptics!), I suspect that this is just not A Thing.
