More Attempted Music
It's not perfect, but it's kinda neat. :)
John Foxx - Europe After the Rain
(I think it's about a couple reuniting after a metaphorical WWI, saying "you've hardly changed," as one does, when everything has changed.)
Bass, guitar, guitar, vocal: me.
More attempted music on Youtube. Sorry about the ads.
Def Leppard - Bringin' on the Heartbreak
Guitar, guitar, bass, and vocal - Me.
I considered recording a separate vocal, and harmony, but I went with singing while playing.
Sorry I'm not great, only not sorry I haven't put forth the insane amount of effort it takes to be great, for those lucky enough to be graced with the potential.
Genuine question here for Linux users and musicians, composers, guitar players etc. I am being told by several mouthy people online that "nobody uses linux" & "nobody would use linux for music making"
How many of you use or have used Linux as a vehicle for recording music?
Please retoot/repost to help get a handle on this, cheers!

Some chill for your long weekend this #KingsBirthday. May I present Beautiful Wifey with “Believe” by Cher, but slower.

i honestly never really fully appreciated the Shure SM57 until using it for recording this album. how little ambient noise it picks up is truly impressive. that's come in clutch with this and recording in our RV. It's too hot to not have the overhead fan on, but somehow that's no problem for the SM57. It was on during the recording of the djembe and the Melodica and didn't get picked up at all.
was actually really surprised how much i liked how the Melodica sounded with the SM57. took a bit more practice when it came to positioning myself to use it versus the Rode NT1 i'd used for it previously. I basically had to close mic the Melodica with the SM57, but I really like how it came out.
Got the pedals all reorganized and hooked up again for attempting some guitar recording for the album (settings not withstanding). Going take an early (for me) lunch and then set up the SM57 and getting to work.
Here’s a cover of “How Can I Not Love You” from #AnnaAndTheKing by beautiful Wifey.
Making music - trying to cover a song with some stretched-out fretting (3-7th fret)... and it's hard keeping the G string ringing.
I blew off recording last week, and it feels like I may blow it off again.
I don't know whether I should just find something easy to play.
I often try stuff that's hard for me, and do a version with many mistakes, rather than play something easier, with fewer mistakes.

Hey there, any #VoiceOver peeps know how to configure a #UniversalAudio Solo/Arrow interface to record my #VO in a #Logic session with a client directing me on a video call? I’ve tried all the videos and articles about routing and virtual channels in #Console but in a recent Meets call, Meets just hijacked my audio so it was really quiet in Logic. Don’t know what I’m doing wrong. If you could explain it like I’m a baby that would be awesome. Don’t wanna use Loopback.

Hey, squad, and other friends!
Here's me attempting another song - It's a Shame about the 90s and all that alternative-to-what-it's-just-pop music. :)
Me on bass, guitar, and vocal.
Here’s an update to the last one - first time singing since November last year.
Here’s a cover of “When She Loved Me” by #SarahMcLachlan from #ToyStory2

Nooooo! I LOVED this magazine. Started reading it in the late 90s. No one else I knew was into home recording or music on computers so it was my bible/tutor. You will be missed! #music #homerecording #vst #recording #daw

Since I'm still on the job hunt, I've had time to work on demoing some instrumental guitar ideas for songs to work on.
Here's one in progress, I'm pretty happy with the direction these are headed.
Kind of a nocturnal, melancholy vibe, almost emo or something to my guitar playing lately, but with some nice beautiful chords still in fingerstyle mode with a lot of open strings too. It's been fun to play around in that style.

It's a german-language lo-fi concept album about the german region saxony-anhalt and about growing up here.

Ich bin nicht so vermessen, ein Save-the-Date zu schicken, aber endlich ist es so weit. Ich habe alles soweit vorbereitet, dass ich heute Abend mein Album Electronic Christian Music veröffentlichen kann. Also stay tuned!

Today's experiment..
Messed up a couple of notes in this improvisation. Trying out a new plectrum too. Weird how excited I was for these plectrums. (sounds #thread)
Signal chain:
Epiphone SG, Red Panda Particles v1
Orange Micro Terror Dark, Croc-Zilla cabinet (Hempback and Ruby speakers)
Sennheiser e906 (just on the Hempback)
Gear4Music 4way loom
Zoom H6
Audacity noise reduction, normalisation, conv to mp3
Made a sketch of new tune, kind of like it. Very #folk and still tinkering with the lyrics, there's a couple more verses I'm working on for it.
Here's a little demo of it "When You Get Round":
