DoomsdaysCW<p>So, a friend of mine who lived <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/OffGrid" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>OffGrid</span></a> in <a href="https://kolektiva.social/tags/Vermont" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Vermont</span></a> had one of these set up. David Hembrow<p>Photos from recent delivery runs.</p><p>To the greatest extent possible I do my work by human power, but there are limits to how much I can control.</p><p>This morning I made a delivery to someone who lives in a village in Drenthe so that delivery was made 100% by human power as I rode there and back in my velomobile.</p><p>Parts ordered by people who live thousands of km away are a different story. I can then only control the first few km. So I go as far by bike as I can and then those parcels continue their journeys by commercial shipping companies.</p><p>All shipping companies make green claims these days, and they make rather more grand claims than I do. But none of those claims amount to anything close to traveling by human power alone.<br><a href="https://www.dutchbikebits.com" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://www.</span><span class="">dutchbikebits.com</span><span class="invisible"></span></a><br><a href="https://todon.eu/tags/humanpowered" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>humanpowered</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/humanpowereddelivery" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>humanpowereddelivery</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/dutchbikebits" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>dutchbikebits</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/velomobile" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>velomobile</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/cycling" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>cycling</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/netherlands" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>netherlands</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/biketooter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>biketooter</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/biketrailer" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>biketrailer</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/bicycle" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>bicycle</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/recumbent" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>recumbent</span></a> <a href="https://todon.eu/tags/regel17" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>regel17</span></a></p>
Work in Progress<p>A good portion of our mulch hay I cut myself using this scythe. A very pleasant implement to use, I got it from <a href="https://scythesupply.com/" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">scythesupply.com/</span><span class="invisible"></span></a>, a small company in Maine. David Hembrow<p>Today's second utility ride was a 12 km round trip to the recycling centre with a heavy trailer loaded with the remains of a useless decorative plant. Michael J DeLuca<p>So I moved my walk.<br>Contractor says he’s never seen anyone do it before? On rollers, with basically no powered tools and small help I shifted and leveled these 6 concrete slabs heavier than me and then using my 25 years rusty masonry skills filled in with salvaged mostly concrete pavers, a few marble curb pieces, and some brick from my house. I saved this much new concrete from being made. I saved some fossil fuel generated energy. Plus I saved some money on a gym membership ha ha jk dad bod 4 eva. Also just realized the new walk runs directly between my two most-used rain barrels! Now I will plant native edible ground cover and shrubs and some fruit trees, it’ll be awesome</p><p><a href="https://climatejustice.social/tags/SolarPunk" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>SolarPunk</span></a> <a href="https://climatejustice.social/tags/permaculture" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>permaculture</span></a> <a href="https://climatejustice.social/tags/FoodForest" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>FoodForest</span></a> <a href="https://climatejustice.social/tags/HumanPowered" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>HumanPowered</span></a> <a href="https://climatejustice.social/tags/RightToRepair" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>RightToRepair</span></a></p>
