🆕 blog! “Why do all my home appliances sound like R2-D2?”

I have an ancient Roomba. A non-sentient robot vacuum cleaner which only speaks in monophonic beeps.

At least, that's what I thought. A few days ago my little cybernetic helper suddenly started speaking!

I've been developing a MQTT GUI client called MQTTy (the name is not very original but I needed the word MQTT in it). That will help me and hopefully help others, to develop, test and debug their IoT applications that utilizes the MQTT protocol.

It's written in Rust, completely free software, licensed under the terms of GPL 3.0 or later versions.

Currently the app does not hit the MVP stage, so there is a lot of work to do to reach it.

Hey #Brisbane #IoT folk i have a client for whom I’ve designed aquaculture sensor platforms (target market is legal :420leaf: ). He’s seeking a freelance frontend-but-fullstackish-and-iot-savvy person to work on the server-side customer interface. Prefers to meet f2f so Brisbane area for preference. Would consider other AU states.

i have a 84505R Liftmaster garage door opener and they've fscked with the MyQ API so much that i can't use #HomeKit via MyQ and need to go with a #RATGDO device or similar, but because my opener is a 84505R and therefore has a "yellow learn button" (lol?) i am told i need An Adapter but not what Adapter that might be.

this is the hanging chad of my #householdIT that persists and i am determined to figure it out without buying a new opener. and you can help! if you have any ideas lmk 🙏 #iot

🆕 blog! “Review: WiFi connected Air Conditioner”
★★★★⯪

Summer is coming. The best time to buy air-con is before it gets blazing hot. So, off to the Mighty Internet to see if I can find a unit which I can attach to my burgeoning smarthome setup.

I settled on the SereneLife 3-in-1 Portable Air Conditioning Unit. It's a small(ish) tower, fairly portable, claims 9000 …
