Also called the "leadership minute", it is a long-standing custom in the House that permits party leaders extended debate time on the floor.

The record for the "magic minute" is >8 hours set by then #Republican Min Ldr #KevinMcCarthy in 2021 when he gave a circuitous speech against Biden's $1.75T bill.

They refused to support the measure to bring up the #aid package bc it wouldn’t allow a vote on #extremism #border security they prioritize over #Ukraine.

The #Republicans’ rebellion left #Democrats to bail out #MikeJohnson, so they can get something done.

The agreement includes an increase in #Pentagon spending to $886.3B & holds nondefense funding essentially flat at $772.7B, incl’g $69B agreed to thru a #McCarthy / WH handshake deal.
