Driving my daughter's ICE (Internal Combustion Engine) Subaru was ... different. Besides the fact that it is way noisier and slower in acceleration, the hardest thing to get used to was the lack of engine braking! Let off the accelerator, and it just keeps going! I sorely missed my regen braking on my #EV6. I have turned it to Auto Max. It isn't quite one-pedal driving (i-Drive in #Kia), but it is close. And that whole business about turning off the engine at stoplights!

Almost 32% of the EVs sold in Australia is 2024 had #V2L (Vehicle to Load) capability, i.e. provided a 230V AC outlet. These were mainly #BYD, #MG, #Kia, #Hyundai and #Genesis models.
They do this by having a small inverter in the car to convert the DC from the battery pack into usable AC power ranging from 2.2kW to 3.3kW, either inside the car and/or via an external adaptor plugged into the AC charge port. Here are the top 25 models from 2024 and whether they currently support V2L and some photos of various model V2L adaptors.
V2L is a useful capability to use your EV battery to run small appliances when away camping or during a power blackout like your fridge, freezer, phone chargers, internet routers and even dialysis machines.
Unfortunately many of the biggest selling EV brands don’t support V2L yet, e.g. #Tesla, #BMW, #Volvo, #Mercedes and #Polestar
Fortunately third parties are working on V2L devices as a retrofit option for Teslas, which don’t currently have V2L, using an external inverter.
Using an external inverter to provide V2L, connects directly to the EV battery DC via the CCS2 plug, and is a more expensive solution than a V2L adaptor provided by the EV manufacturer, which uses an inverter inside the EV.
This technology is similar to how future #V2H and #V2G could work on existing EVs.

I want to sing the praises of #EV life once again. The simple joy of waking up every morning to a full tank, done overnight for a few bucks, is hard to overstate. I am not much of a "car guy," but I love driving my #Kia #EV6. The #EV6 is a joy to drive, with excellent handling and great acceleration even in Eco mode. Put it into Sport mode, and the takeoff is breathtaking. Save for some minor "skittering" when the road is a little rough, it is a perfect car to drive.
Good time the short to stock?

EV owners! Is anyone successfully charging a J1772 electric vehicle off a 110v outlet that is ~30ft from the car?
I have a friend who wants to be able to charge her 2024 Kia Sportage PHEV off a regular 110v outlet at her house (no GFI), but their parking is too far from the outlet for their current plug-in cable to reach. I'm trying to help her find a solution since she's underwater with kids & holidays... (NB: I don't know diddly about EV charging, I just have more free time than she does, so I offered to try to find her a solution - ideally one that won't burn her house down.)
My initial thought was that she needs a 25-30ft Level 1 J1772 plug-in cable, but of course it's not that simple.
Looks like there are a variety of charger extension cables, but most are L2 / require an adapter to use a 110v outlet, which seems like it'd add a point of resistance / potential heat buildup, and very few are UL listed.
If anyone is doing this successfully, I'd love to know your solution!

I will get installed a #Victron #QuattroII and batteries and plug my #V2L #KIA #EV6 into it.
The car can theorically deliver 3,6 KWh max.
How this isn't a bigger news story thank #dieselgate is something hard to understand:

The EV6 GT model will also get... a new “Virtual Gear Shift” feature which “enhances driving immersion by simulating gear shifts with visuals, engine sound effects, and a tactile sensation through motor torque adjustment.”
This basically simulates the feeling of driving a manual gas car, rather than an EV – so in exchange for making your car objectively slower, you can get some silly noises and have a more complicated driving experience.
My partner drives a #Tesla and I drive a #kia (owned by #Hyundai ) so I've driven #ElectricVehicles with and without buttons. Buttons make much more sense for some functions such heat. Fussing with a #touchscreen takes my eyes off of the road
