@stefano I had no problem with 24.10 as a starting point. Switched to Kubuntu and upgraded to 25.04. Repeatedly (using VirtualBox for most tests).

I recently tested, repeatedly, the ability to recover after aggressively resetting the VM during an offline system update. A simple command successfully repaired things (online).

What's pictured is recommended on Linux, should not be set on FreeBSD.

Honestly been loving working in #KDE in #Linux much more than Gnome.

And the Kate editor has become quite capable and helpful - even IDE-ish!

Using #Debian stable KDE, and #Kubuntu on different workstations and the differences are minor for use.

Wayland still seems to be hot pile, but under X11 it's great.

I imagine their hubris was similar to the systemd people. It's been YEARS.

Still though, KDE - 👍

@bison
XFCE is a very lightweight desktop environment, many automatism are deliberately missing or need to be configured.

#Kubuntu [1] (Ubuntu with KDE) or maybe a #Almalinux with Mate[2] (if a more GNOME like interface is wanted) could be better solutions.

It is sad that you had such a bad first impression by using #Fedora
Dumb decisions (like removing VLC codecs) are what stops me from recommending Fedora at all.

Ok, I'm on the challenge.

#ChangeOS
For my personal laptop I moved from Windows10 to #Kubuntu (Ubuntu with @kde). This is a stop to boycott Windows11.

#ChangeMobileOS
After getting root on my Android device I installed @LineageOS.
Instead of Linux there is limited support for LineageOS. I recommend to buy a supported device: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/

#ChangeBrowser
On desktop I replaced Chrome with @librewolf. As fallback I run #Firefox and a degoogled #Chromium. As librewolf is not available on Android I use @Waterfox here. Both support my Firefox profile I have since 2004.

On LineageOS and Android the new default Appstore is @fdroidorg, for proprietary apps #AuroraStore (fdroid).
