RaymondPierreL3<p>I've posted about the Labor-Noalition getting their respective heads together to nut out an environment bill for Parliament. And, yes, nothing good is expected out of that cooking pot. It's another confirmation that the right-wing factions of the Labor Party are trashing the traditional Labor political platform in order to stay in government as long as possbile. Ostensibly, in order to move and secure the progressive agenda over a number ot terms. But by Gee, how slow do you have to move it mate?</p><p>"The ABC is reporting that Murray Watt is very close to making a deal with the Coalition to pass it’s environmental protection legislation.</p><p>In our live blog, Amy Remeikis wrote that the mining industry want the Coalition to negotiate on these laws, which will set out go and no go zones for development and fossil fuel projects, because the alternative is the government negotiates with the Greens and that would mean some actual protections would be put in place.</p><p>So basically, Matt Canavan and Barnaby Joyce will be on the same side as the Labor government on environmental protections. What does that say about the legislation?"</p><p><a href="https://aus.social/tags/AusPol" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>AusPol</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Environment" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Environment</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/EPA" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>EPA</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/LNP" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>LNP</span></a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Labor" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">#<span>Labor</span></a> </p><p>Read more:<a href="https://live.australiainstitute.org.au/2025/10/australia-institute-live-abc-reveals-financial-cost-of-unlawfully-terminating-antoinette-lattouf-as-estimates-continues-all-the-days-events-as-it-happens/5299/" rel="nofollow noopener" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">live.australiainstitute.org.au</span><span class="invisible">/2025/10/australia-institute-live-abc-reveals-financial-cost-of-unlawfully-terminating-antoinette-lattouf-as-estimates-continues-all-the-days-events-as-it-happens/5299/</span></a></p>
