Have a lot of photographic data for two #linguisticlandscape studies. Need to wrangle it into a presentable website. Tried WP bc it is what I know best, but it is such a pain.
No luck with various image galleries.
Trying a new-to-me CMS #omeka which looks like the best fit. Should eventually be able to bulk upload and autopopulate a lot of the metadata.

Need to edit the theme and do server stuff so it doesn't look like much now, but soon! Easy to work with.
Delighted to announce that you can now enjoy, look through and reuse the photos of #Mallorca’s #LinguisticLandscape that me and and my former students #OleNielsen and #StefanieMiyahara collected last year: https://zenodo.org/records/12507484
Excited to be talking at #SECOL tomorrow about #French in the #linguisticlandscape of #StMartinville in #Louisiana.
Unusal characters in the wild, at least for trees around Leipzig. Clearly looks #CJK-ish, but the only character that I can clearly make out is 無 (Mandarin wu2), which, rather fittingly, means "nothing".

It's moving slowly, but blogging with students has been pretty good so far. Doing this across two related courses, so commenters and posters may not know each other.
A new article “Making sense of linguistic diversity in Helsinki, Finland: the timespace of affects in the linguistic landscape” by Hanna-Mari Pienimäki, @tuomo, and me is out: https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/josl.12633.
We conducted #fieldwork in three linguistically diverse neighborhoods in #Helsinki Finland. We selected the sites using a method that combines #SocialMedia and population registry data with quantitative measures of #diversity and #spatial analytics. #Research #Sociolinguistics #LinguisticLandscape
Swedish + faux French (?) The ads before the Cinnamon bun day are getting more ‘creative’ #linguisticlandscape
A little informal, personal post about the #linguisticlandscape at work. Back to blogging.

Noteworthy in this hotel sign in downtown #Jerusalem: signmakers decided to go with the spoken version of the name, Machne rather than the formal "Maḥane" Yehuda; also note use of Rashi script in #Hebrew (which given the letters in this case, should be easily legible)

My kids say I don't post enough animal content. So I present to you:

Today I am doing my part in #SciComm: I am a #LinguisticLandscape today with my "avocato" T-shirt for my class on #ScienceWriting. It's a avocado shaped cat or a cat shaped avocado and the writing says "avocato"
Today in the #LinguisticLandscape: What could make your skyr more #Icelandic than replacing a vowel with a "ð"? #linguistics
Hadassah Hospital presents a #bilingual, Hebrew-Arabic poster: "Here in Hadassah we show mutual respect" (not sure about the gesture though, might be a "timeout" - e.g., timeout from intolerance, timeout from clashes, etc.)

The charming cable car leading to Haifa U/Technion is known in #Hebrew as the Rakvalit, a variant of standard "rakevel" perhaps styled after other modes of transport in Haifa (metronit, Carmelit). In #Arabic I've seen "qitar hawa'ai" (literally, air train) and also "teleferik" (following French téléphérique)
