What an incredible evening of contrasts Erica and I had last night. Firstly a solemn High Mass in Liverpool's Catholic Cathedral to give thanks for the life of Pope Francis then off to something he would have been happy to be with us a - a spirited 'Over the Rainbow' pantomime performed with many of the children having additional needs. Both will be the subject of a blog soon! That's my #Liverpool

Plans for the £100m #Liverpool #Baltic station have been approved, paving the way for improved connectivity in one of the city’s most vibrant areas. Set on Merseyrail’s Northern Line in the Baltic Triangle, the new station will feature step-free access, modern facilities, and strong links to active travel networks. Highways work begins in autumn 2025, with station construction starting in early 2026 and opening expected by late 2027. Backed by public support and funded through the City Region Sustainable #Transport Settlement, the project supports Mayor Steve Rotheram’s vision for a fully integrated, London-style transport system. It complements wider improvements including a new train fleet, station upgrades, and future stations at Daresbury, Woodchurch, and Carr Mill. The station aims to cut congestion, support net-zero targets, and boost access to jobs, education, and opportunity across the Liverpool City Region.

I joined an LDWA walk around #Liverpool yesterday. As well as visiting the Festival Gardens, Sefton Park and Princes Park we also went to the Welsh Streets.

Those streets have a rich history having been built by and for the #Welsh migrants in the 19th century and refurbished in the 21st.

Something we noticed is the bricked up window above the front doors. We couldn't work out why all of the houses had this.

I've posted Google Street View photos of Kinmel Street from 2008 and 2022 to show that this wasn't a result of the refurbishment.

Any ideas?
