I need to add a new payment method to my Apple TV account and I couldn't log in. Now my account is locked. It's stupidly difficult to do some basic things on a Mac when you haven't used one for years. I'm so frustrated I'm thinking about going back to a Windows laptop even though I hate windows. I've also been having a lot of problems with my MacBook being really slow and hanging up even though it's only about a year old. Pretty disappointed in my venture down the Mac road. #Macbook #Apple

How to remove an M4 MacBook Air battery: unscrew, unscrew, unscrew, unscrew … [some other stuff] … peel, peel, peel, peel, peel, peel, peel, peeeeeeeel.

#MacBook Air M4 teardown happening now—did #Apple make any hidden changes? Stay tuned!

A colleague gave me an old Macbook Pro 9.2, which was too slow even to open Safari or read emails...

After upgrading the ram from 4 to 16gb, changing the old HDD for a new SSD, installing #Fedora... I made a Zoom call while I had 20 tabs open on Firefox, with Nextcloud, Thunderbird, Telegram and Emacs open in the background.

But the thing that amazed me was the strange sense of #empowerment (?) I felt during the process.

The new Macbook Air M4 is finally announced. It's 100 dollar cheaper and besides the M4 chip upgrade it will contain the new Centre Stage Camera.

Unfortunately they discontinued the Space Gray color and replaced it with 'Sky Blue'. Not a fan of that new color.

Anyway I just did a pre-order for the Starlight version with 24 GB Ram en 512 GB SSD. Arriving next week. 🙌

yeesh. a macbook would actually be fantastic for my long covid brain fog.
(Yes, I did forget what brain fog was. I've been describing it as 'mental fatigue' and 'thinking hurts recently'.)

But as long as I get pre-M1 chips, I should be fine, right?

As much as anything is, in this economy run on non-consent, stealthing, theft, violation of human rights, and disregard of convivial contentment.

Digital Trends · Here are all the Macs that will and won’t get the new AI featuresApple Intelligence is here with a host of exciting AI features that will change the way you use your Mac. But is your device compatible? We’ve got the answer.

hi fedi, I have a late 2013 macbook pro that killed three batteries dead within a year or so - as in, it doesn't even see the battery at all and is terribly slow to use. it was "fine" with the first dead battery - it reported that the battery's still there and it wasn't laggy. with the two subsequent replacements, it acts as if the battery isn't even there and it's super slow. I've tried resetting the smc, but it doesn't seem to have any effect.

the original battery dying wasn't that weird, but the replacement dying within a month or so was deemed weird by the place that repaired it and its replacement dying as well was troubling to us too, but the place shut down and I kind of pretended for a long time that I don't need a personal computer, but that's a lie.

is there anyone out there who ran into a similar problem? or is knowledgeable enough to tell me what the issue is, so I can negotiate better with the next place I'll take it? or is there nothing I can do at this moment?

it's the first laptop that (physically) endured my various mishaps with it and I'm curious as to what could've caused this battery-killing spree.

I just added a #TalosLinux 1.9.3 (#Talos) #Vagrant box to the #ARM64 collection. This allows you to run Talos on your #AppleSilicon #MacBook. This is control-plane only, but you can patch the manifest to also run workloads.

You can find it right here:

Unfortunately, I will no longer be able financially to support @AsahiLinux 's Marcan as a GitHub sponsor after his resignation. phoronix.com/news/Asahi-Linux- . While I understand why Marcan has decided to step down, I remain hopeful that he reconsiders his decision and rejoins the project. His work was vital and invaluable. I will restart my donation if Marcan rejoins the project.
