I sincerely believe that the reason the mainstream media gave much less attention to Mastodon than they gave to Threads or BlueSky is because the other two are centralized platforms that can potentially be bought out, whereas Mastodon isn't, which means it undermines their primary agenda of controlling the narrative.

After hearing all of the news I've heard through #StatusCoupNews #JENerationalChange and #SecularTalkPolitics I have been feeling a very heavy weight on my shoulders regarding #CurrentEvents especially those that #MainstreamMedia fails to cover over advertising shenanigans... Of course they would, but that's also because they don't want to pay living wages, don't feel that respect is a two-way street, and feel entitled to use and abuse younger workers who are well aware of how their parents response to that abuse (which was often to work harder to try to get ahead) was met with yet more abuse.
