Pics taken in this moment. The almond is also the name of the edible and cultivated seed of this tree.I have previously observed and posted pink inflorescence from this species of tree. The Streets of Melbourne<a href="https://aus.social/tags/AcaciaPycnantha" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#AcaciaPycnantha</a>, most commonly known as the golden <a href="https://aus.social/tags/wattle" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#wattle</a>, is a tree native to southeastern Australia. Snapped this just now. It grows to a height of 8 m (26 ft) and has quite unique flattened leaf stalks (best description), instead of true leaves. My childhood home had one of these on the nature strip. It was at least three times the breadth of this one pictured and a balanced rounded shape. Well, maybe an overestimation of its size, based on my younger-self’s recollection. But it was big and bloomed like crazy during <a href="https://aus.social/tags/winter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#winter</a> time. Golden flowers appear in abundance, during late winter.They’re profusely fragrant, especially late in the season. The Streets of MelbourneNot sure what this is… but it’s turning in preparation for dropping, shortly. I feature it mainly for the myriad of colours it’s displaying at present, given we’re a couple of weeks into <a href="https://aus.social/tags/autumn" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#autumn</a>-propper and the display along this entire street in <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Oakleigh" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Oakleigh</a> <a href="https://aus.social/tags/Australia" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#Australia</a> is something special. There is easily a dozen of the same tree in various stages of transformation along this shopping strip. PS - have to say I drove along a major road in <a href="https://aus.social/tags/MalvernEast" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#MalvernEast</a> after taking these pics… and there was easily a kilometre of these trees spaced say 20-30 metres apart on both side of the street. Couldn’t stop as late for an appointment, but gosh.
