It’s a #difficult time this #holiday #season. Not just for us but I see it in others.

My cousins are starting to experience more on our mutual side of the family of the degree of fucked up #conspiracy #theories, #Trumpsters, #MAGAts. It’s sad but it’s also something you have to move to a safe distance to mourn.

More directly for me, I have a #parent who is getting absorbed into a new role, quickly, as a parent and a #matriarch of a #family that she’s always wanted and no idea if it’s a good idea or good fit for her. I pray that she is happy and not setting herself or those other participants up for #heartbreak later or even further #physchological and #spiritial #damage.

#undealt with old family #wrongs. This people refuse to #acknowledge or #apologize for. It’s #difficult. It’s #messy. It’s downright fucking #insane sometimes and #catastrophically #costly to #mental #health and #wellbeing.

Find someone around you that you can #unpack with. Go only if you feel you’re confident you can #endure or have a solid #escape #route or #disengagement #strategy.

Find your #allies.

Want to clear up errors from non-POC & non-traditional ppls. #Matriarch doesn't necessarily mean you're a Mom. In colonial teachings, it alludes to motherhood. In non-colonial teachings, matriarchs can be Mothers or ppl like me, who choose to not have children. You can't declare yourself a matriarch. The title has to be gifted to you in ceremony, by elder matriarchs & it has to be earned. My matriarch ceremony was done when I was 27 yrs old; led by 4 elders. It's a lifelong responsibility.
