It's #Monday.

But I have to give a belated #FollowFriday shoutout to the #MontrealGazette for the fabulous #feed they are sharing via @mtlgazette.

The Gazette is an #English language #newspaper in #Montréal #Québec, yet the coverage is intensely #LocalNews. The feed includes developing stories and updates as they are published.

#Journalism should take notes. I have never lived there, but I know more about #QCpoli and #mtlpoli than my own city/province. & I read more French than ever before.

Montreal Gazette: What are Quebec children being taught in sex ed about gender identity?

"Sexuality education has been in Quebec schools for 40 years, but today’s mandatory curriculum was only introduced in 2018. It is designed to guide students to understand themselves, navigate interpersonal relationships and develop good judgment. It begins in kindergarten, when students learn the correct names for body parts. That it starts that young scares people, says Jamie Quinn, the pedagogical consultant in sexuality education for the English Montreal School Board, “but sexuality is so much more than intercourse — it’s about the whole human being, who we are, what we like, what our interests are. It’s giving them the tools to be able to properly communicate about their own bodies.”"

The Astor Restaurant was opened by George Gavaris in 1924 on Montreal's St. Catherine Street.
In 1978, the Montreal Gazette's Stephanie Storey (link in next post) said: ”Now the Astor serves all kinds of food from scampi and snails to pizza and spaghetti .... The Astor’s strawberry tarts, filled with pure cream, are made by two pasty chefs in a separate fully-equipped pastry kitchen on the third floor.”
